Default Is this a Ryobi?

Before I take it apart, what do you guys think this one is? It was given to me by a close friend, it is about 15 years old , but was only used a few times, not started for the last 10 years, I cranked it up this morning and it run like a champ, very easy starting, probably a bad fuel line as it leaked fuel in the worst way, could it be a 26 cc Ryobi (it has carburator and muffler to the rear of the engine, same size as the 31 cc Ryobi weed eater that I have, I'd probably be better off using my own 31 cc instead of this one, which is 26 cc, what say you?

Walter,
It appears to be a Weedeater brand trimmer. The air filter and basic design indicate that it is. I would put money on it. I just torn down one the other day.

Did the Weedeater brand name have the same inline design of the Ryobi? Perhaps it is the same engine, who knows?
Yes, I guess I'll have to take it off the shell, it leaks fuel real bad, can't work with it like that.

Down here in Florida you come out of your house with one weedeater on each arm, a la Edward Scissorhands (I think was his name), what a life!

Walter,
The rear reed valve Weedeater engines have a round exhust port cast into the cylinder. The muffler is held on with springs. It is physically larger then the Ryobi and has courser fins. It has small ports and passages and the case is not as stuffed as the Ryobi. The 32cc, like mine has 80 thousands clearance between the squish band and the piston. The rod is steel and the piston is heavier then the Ryobi. I'll take some photos later, since it is no my bench now. It is the same basic layout as the Ryobi, but an entirely different engine.

I have two of those craftsman 32cc engines, one weedie and one blower, both are probably going to be used as project RC stuff... (the blower I got mostly dissassembled and the weedie I got from a trash can without the clutch bell and some other clutch parts... but free was free...) they are very close to the ryobi engine in first apearance but the flywheel schroud is molded to the block, the backplate is friggin huge (it has the fuel tank and exhaust heat shield molded all in one piece...), the fuel lines are tiny to the carb, the muffler is odd, it's outlet is all the way around the outside, kinda nifty looking.

when I get bored enough and have my lathe working (need a bigger chuck to make prop hubs, right now it only has a 19mm drill chuck) I'll play with the weedie one and see if I can get it running good, maybe use it to play with internal modifications , after that maybe I'll play with my homie 25... then there's the lawnboy or greenmachine or whatever it is... (old stihl clone with barrel carb)
