Homey 45 - What Saws?

I am looking for a homelite 45cc engine from a saw to convert. I saw recently that the current Timberman that has a 45cc engine has a rubber boot on the exhaust. Does anyone know what model number or name has the 45cc engine with the exhaust mounted with bolts? I almost bought a saw on e-bay, I'm glad I didn't since I would have been very disappointed if it had a rubber boot on the exhaust. Thanks in advance, Jim

You are looking for a 45cc Homelite with a black engine cover. This is the older model, the newer model has a red cover and the carb isn't bolted on.

Ok, got an older Homelite 45 saw. It has the bolt on carb. The muffler has three bolts securing it to the block. They are square and are not threaded, they slide into place and are held in place by tightening the nut on the muffler. In order to use with another muffler I guess you can cut the bolts down and then retap the ends? Also, is there an adapter for the carb or should you use the stock plastic one? It would be nice if a bellcrank was not required. Other than the rail mount adapters, it looks like this will be an easy conversion. The carb looks like it is pretty big. Should I go with a larger one, though? Plan to use this engine on a TF giant P-51. Any thoughts?

Homlite Timberman 45cc. The current one has a red top and automatic choke.
As was said above, the one from 3 or 4 years ago has a black top and manual choke.
The Timberman as originally equiped from the factory is a .325 pitch 18" bar. But there was a lot of the black top ones that were factory refurbished that came with a .325 20" bar
As a chainsaw, the newer (current red top) one is more user friendly for the "dude" homeowner. But the carb is mounted on the saw case and not on the cylinder. This not as desirable as a model engine. However, unlike the Poulan 46, the newest style Timberman's intake port boss is round which makes it easy to machine a carb insulator or adaptor.
They seem to have about the same power

This is a great arangement. Use the original 10x32 bolts with locknuts or trim down the head of any pan or button head bolt to fit in the slot. No more stripped threads or lost mufflers. Locknuts stay put without locktite or lock washers. Isn't the famous G62 like this?

If a converted 45 is about 3lbs 13 oz (61oz), what is the weight savings by losing all ignition parts? ie gasnglow setup?
