I have a featherlite 18cc or 21cc weadeater gas motor. I am doing a conversion on it for fun and just to go through the learning process. My quecstion is the shaft that protrudes from the magneto that the flexible drive shaft splined into, does it unscrew? Is it a left or right hand thread? Does it press on? Do you remove it so as to replace it with a prop hub? Comments and suggestions appreciated. I am working on migrating to gas.

rocket,
The shaft drive adapter most likely is a 5/16x24 righthand thread. It is replaced with a prop hub. There is a ton of information about weedeaters available on the gas engine conversion forum. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_92/tt.htm This is the store bought gas engine forum.

Thanks for reply. I will try to remove the shaft drive adapter at lunchtime tommorow. I see you are a member of the ARCS. So am I. We have probably seen each other at the flying field. I will try to make it a point to figure out who you are.
