Today I was trying to get a free Roybi engine running on my bench. Got it started ran it for a few min then went to shut it off --- Here is where the problem comes in..
In my hast, I don't have a kill switch I normally just stick my finger over carb, but this time I took the screwdriver I was holding and shorted it across the mag and the little tab sticking up out of the mag .
Thinking this would work just like a kill switch.. NOW my mag won't produce spark .. Did I burn it up ??? I mean it killed the motor instanly

Are you sure the mag is dead. Takes a pretty good spin to make the ol' mag pop. That is why we wind up doing ignition conversions or get a real big starter.

Make sure your spark plug is real clean. Gap it a little closer. Try .025. Also make sure the air gap on mag is very close...but not rubbing. About .003-.004. If you cannot get spark, extra coils are easy to find. Take Care, Capt,n

Yes its dead, spinning with a drill starter no spark, swaped it with another and can easily see spark.
When I grounded it out, I moved the small tab sticking up over to touch the "U" frame and I guess it burnt it up inside or something.
