I have a Featherlite 18cc (the type with the bolt-on muffler) that I bought pre-converted for RC on magneto some time ago and would like to play with converting it to gas/glow operation. Has anyone converted this particular engine to gas/glow?
I have read the various threads including the one with all the experimental/technical stuff on gas/glow convertion but would like information from anyone who has converted this particular engine type.
My key questions are:
1. Preformance achieved
2. Mixture being used
3. Type of glow plug being used and how long they are lasting
4. What carb are you using? (my engine currently has a Zama W12A of 6.8mm venturi
5. Where can I buy the plug converter?
6. Battery voltage needed for reliable running
7. Any other information that you think may be useful.
Thanks in advance.

hi
i have not converted that engine but i can offer some advice.
you will need to run a 4-stroke glow plug.
you can run a mix of 1 part 10% nitro 10% oil with 2 parts straight high test gas.
zamma carbs don't like glo fuel... you are better off looking for a walbro carb.
horison hobbies sells adapters (google horison hobbies and search for glow adapter)
with the correct mix of fuel you will not need to constantly power teh glow plug.
adn performance can be variable, you get a weight drop adn i have heard of a drop in rpm of around 800rpm but this can also vary.

My Feedback: (6)
Every engine I have run on Gas/Glow, and they are numerous, has gained power with the setup; not lost. Usually a gain on the order of 2 or 300 rpms, sometimes more. They also start easier, idle smoother and slower, are lighter, have no interference problems, etc.
