Bearing in mind that I don't want to spend any money
Which carb can I use on my Homelite 25cc? I've seen in another post the WT645 but the closest I can get on ebay for cheap is a WT640 or HDA49 Or if anyone can tell an engine that has a suitable carb so I can then cross reference the numbers.
Any ideas?
Rich

I have always heard to go with a 11mm venturi, you can use the chart [link]http://www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk/walbrocarbs.htm[/link] to find one. WA-167 seems to be very popular for the Homie. Let me know if you find any good deals anywhere. I need 8-9 of them.

Hi fowlmood77
Thanks for the reply. I haven't found one yet but I will let you know. So far I have seen WT645, WT433 mentioned as well. I found a guy selling new carbs for $8 each but haven't seen any of the numbers so far mentioned. I was wondering if the others will fit or do they have different bolt spacings etc. Does anyone here know?

The bolt pattern is all the same, it's what's inside that is different.
You really get what you pay for.
That's why companies like Zenoah and Desert Aircraft pay the extra money for the better Carbs.
For a glow analogy. Cheap Carb = Super Tigre Good Carb. = OS.
The ST Carb. can be made to run good and you won't notice the difference until you put an OS Carb. on it.
By the way I don't run any of the expensive Carbs. But I'm pretty good at tuning them.
That is the Super Tigre mentality.

Thanks Ralphbf
Ok here we go, the 25cc Homelite that I have just stipped down has a Zama carb. It looks like an 11mm and it has the numbers; H11E 38P stamped on the inlet. Is this carb any good? Can it be used on the 30cc?
Thanks

HAS ANYONE TRIED 13MM ON A 25/30 HOMEY OR 31 RYOBI ? SEEMS TO BE A LOT MORE OF THEM AROUND. THEY HAVE UM BY THE BUSHEL ON E-BAY. 11MM MUCH HARDER TO FIND.

I just used a wt 263 Poulon Walbro on my 25 and it runs great! Try e-bay # 160254233856 for $4.99 plus shipping.
It was a very easy carb to modify for the Homelite and a bolt on as most of those carbs gave the same bolt pattern.

Here is a photo of the conversion.
For what its worth, unless you use a small prop and keep the rpms extremely high, a 13 mm carb would probably be too big for a stock 25-30 cc engine.

Try these numbers from [ecedwards_tools]on ebay stores.I bought the WT433 myself so i know he has [had]them.I buy all my carbs from him.
WT289-11.11mm
WT570 or WT433-same carb11.13mm
WT600-11.11mmi know he has these
WT628-11mm
WT331-11mm
WT167-11.11-i know he has these
These are 12.7mm
WT644-603-257-
Last time i checked the G26 uses a WT813/12.7mm-maybe WT645
Just about all his carbs are $9-12.00.Shipping is like 3.50 for first, then a 1.50 charge for each one after, somthing like that.

this may sound dumbbut I simply used a drill bit to enlargen my walbro carb to just around 11 mm- added about 200 rpm to my homey 25cc- which is turning an apc 17x6 prop around 8300 rpm's.

Funny that I used to do that with two stroke motorcycles back when I was young and didn't have any money! B*st*rd (is that better Mr. moderator?) to get it running right but it worked and I got alot more power!
I'm older now and still have no money! What's up with that? :-)

Rich, I'm relatively new to this conversion game, but the best advice I can give you is to make friends with your local small engine mechanic/dealer.
I recently asked my local guy if he had any old/spare carb's that might suit a Homelite. I walked away with a box full of 20+ carbs. I searched here for model numbers, picked the best 4 from the box, then gave the rest back. Blessed! He then told me he had a heap of old Homelite and other surplus small engines that I could pick through whenever I wanted. For the record, his name is John Ireland, and he runs a business called Allgear in north-west Australia (thanks John).
To guys like John these small carbs & engines are often next to worthless. To us mob, they're gold. Go and introduce yourself to the local small engine dealer/mechanic.... tell him what you're after and you might be surprised at how generous he is (if not, take a case of beer!)
Cheers,
Scott
