I saw this the other day and it got me to thinking that this may be a better way to get what I want. My goal is a great performing 40-60 sized gas airplane.

Why is it that this produces more power than the G20?
Also the oil content is a lot higher at 16:1 thats 8oz of oil to a gallon. The saito gas calls for 20 or 30:1.
My main concern with this route is longevity of the engine. We all know zenoahs run forever. Also burning that much oil seems like it may lead to excessive carbon build up in the engine. Does anyone have experience with runing any of the stock glows on gas?
If I do go this route, I will probably go with a Super Tiger 90 or some other brand with a ringed piston.
Who can make me the parts neccessary to convert to gas? I will need a gas carb adapter, timing ring and a way to put the magnet on the crank.
Is it worth the time effort and money to convert tthese in the long run or should I just go with a purpose built gas engine like the G 20? I can not afford BMEs ST gas 90.

I have a Super Tiger .90 that runs very well. I have it set up on what we call Gas/Glow. Look for the thread called "Gas/Glow How to" for more info on that.
When converting to gas, two things must be considered. One is if you want to convert the bushing rod/crank interface to roller bearing so that you can run a lower oil content like other gasoline engines. The other is that you should convert to a Walbro or Zama carb. The glow carb will work, but will be very sensitive to adjust. A Walbro or Zama carb switch is a much better option.
BME engines sells converted Super Tiger .90 engines, as does Ken Lambert. They both have the roller bearing mod, and the carb mod. Without the roller bearing mod, the engine should be run with the same oil percentage as recommended by the manufacturer for glow use. Bigger engines are sometimes spec'd to use less oil because they have more overall fuel mix running through them and can get away with a bit less oil.

man those engines are sweet. That 3250 sounds mean without exhaust. Does that do any damage if they are run like that? and do you have any problems with overheating. Im planning to do a supertigre G40, but i will be using a glow plug like rysium has been doing.
