Default Partner chain saw

Found a used Partner chain saw at a garage sale cheap. The only designation on the saw is Model #50. Checked the web, no help. Anyone know the size (CC) of this motor? I have it apart and looks to have a very long stroke. Thanks, red

This is most likely a s50 "50cc" which is an older saw with no more product support. Partner is a division of Husquvarna but never was as popular in the U.S. If the saw runs good the only draw back (besides limited parts avail.) is the carb will most likely be mounted via a rubber bellows that will need some sort of mounting bracket made once the engine frame is cut away. Hope this helps

Thanks Jim. It is an "s50" and I'm happy to know it is a 50cc. The carb is a Tillotsen, hard mounted to a plastic insulator, shouldn't be a problem. Saw has single ring, good compression, good bore and as I stated before, seems to have very long stroke. I've got it apart now and cleaning old oil and dirt off. Saw chassis and crankcase are as a unit and have to be cut apart. I think I will try gas-glow on this one. I have a good supply of methanol. Tried this once before on a 18cc echo, ran well, no idle, and lost interest.
I had done a Husqvarna 61cc before and found out while grinding the case that it was magnesuim. Checked this one to be sure it's aluminum. Thanks again for the info, red

Partner was made by Pioneer and the A50 is 55 CC., according to my old repair manual. Fixed a few of them in my small engine shop before I retired. They didn't make a 50 CC but they did make a 100 cc which would be a shaker.

Thanks for the info, I finished cutting it out of the frame and it looks good. It seems to have a very long stroke, any info on that? Fuuny story- while I was cutting it out of the frame with a cutoff tool, the metal must had had some magnesium in it, as it sparked a few times and threw a flare setting my pants on fire!! Breakdance time ) red

Hi Red : Bore is 44 mm or 1.73 in. Stroke is 36 mm or 1.42 in. Disp. 55 cc or 3.360cu. in.. And your right. Pretty well all of the older saws were magnesium. When I was converting a lot of engines, I used the trusty old hacksaw, as the stuff cuts like butter. Auto body file leaves a nice finish.
Have fun....Gord

Thank you Gord, that's good info. Cutting is done and case painted red, assembled and looks awesome. A little heavy at 3 1/2 lbs. Maybe I'll find a WW1 bipe that needs the nose weight. Thanks again, red
