Does anyone have a new homelite 25 ring that they can part with? I'm just looking here to see before I call Frank Bowman.
Pm me with a shipped price if you have one. Thanks, Dave

The Frank Bowman ring will be much better than a stock replacement. For the Homelite 25cc, you can also send him the piston and he will install a pin, and supply a ring configured for use with a pinned piston. Then you can grind out the bridge in the exhaust port for a further power increase. It is worth the trouble....

Thanks for the advice. I've dealt with Frank before. I've also pinned pistons before. Just checking if anyone else does the same thing I do, order stuff and end up not using it.

Av8tor1977, is there that much power to gain for the effort? I'm in the process of building
a Dynaflite super cub 104" and plan on floats and tires with a homelite 25. Do you think I should
get the Bowman ring and cut the exaust before I even mount it? I'm not looking to go nuts
with this thing (it is a cub) but I am wondering if it'll get off the water. It will have flaps.
Thanks, Craig

As far as I am concerned, it is a very worthwhile modification. Frank's rings generally give a decent power increase by themselves. In the case of the Homelite, I believe removing the exhaust port bridge is very beneficial. I can't give you any before and after exact numbers, but the Homelites I have done this way run extremely strong.

I don't mean to take over this thread but.....I will get the ring from Frank and cut the exaust port but now I'm wondering
if the 25cc Homelite is enough. I also have a 33cc Homelite chainsaw converted and ready to go. Since I do plane to fly
off water, would the 33 be better. 104" span 1571 wing area, weight 15-17 lbs. What do you think ? Thanks , Craig

33 would be better especially with floats.Lots of drag.Had a 25cc on my sons Bals USA DVIII,80 inch.No floats.Flew ok at 14.25 lbs.Flew much better with a homy 30cc.Both of my engines where weedie motors.I would go with the 33 saw motor.

That's what I was starting to think, I'm not sure what the weight diff. is but I have read that the saws put out more,
so it might be the better of the two.....Craig
