Lawnboy Engines?

I think if you go with electronic ignition and shave the case down some you might have a more versatile engine. Either way it looks good!
Since I started this thread, I'll put my .02 in. I think ANY information that MAY help our hobby (things you operate but do not ride in/on) is appropriate. Discussing topics not related to the thread should be left for the club house. If you want to talk karts then go to the clubhouse. If you have information FROM karting that may be of help here, then please by all means POST IT! The lawnboy engines seemed like a viable engine for a conversion to RC use. If anyone has done one, please share your experience.
Thank you,
Brian Tindall

Have 4 of these engines, the one pictured over a year ago may get a battery ignition as it has the mag mount removed and the scabbed on unit is hard to hand prop. The second one pictured as well as another will get the big mag treatment. Perfect for the 1/2 Pietenpol. Will likely still need nose weight in it. Believe i have a mere $125 into the engine. Is a fun engine to fire up. Had a West Bend Kart engine originally planned for the 1/2 scale parasol but i sold it to a Kart guy along with a new one. Like the briggs better, looks more model engine like, and is a piston port engine.

First of all no one posted anything about karts. This thread is about using the Lawnboy lawnmower engine specifically and converting lawnmower engines in general. The four cycle Briggs engine is available in souped up form. It is a lawnmower engine not a kart engine. They use these lawnmower engines in the Jr. Dragster events. One poster used the Lawnboy engine in an RC dune buggy. I don't see anywhere that this forum is about converting engines for aircraft only. So if someone is makeing an RC kart, I don't see any problem with that either.

If you are responding to my post, then keep in mind I STARTED THIS THREAD. I will not repeat myself so please reread my last post. This is RC Universe, some of the links posted WERE kart related. I will repaet this part though as it seems like is was not read correctly:
"I think ANY information that MAY help our hobby (things you operate but do not ride in/on) is appropriate."
AND this: "If you have information FROM karting that may be of help here, then please by all means POST IT!"
As for the B&S not being a kart engine, think again. I really don't believe they put those high power engines on grass cutters! Minibikes, go karts and jr dragsters are more what they are for. Now again if you look at my first quote in this post, I'm not saying this is strictly for airplanes. Oh, BTW, I do have RC cars and boats. Yes there are more appropriate areas on RC Universe for cars and boats, but I think "Engine Conversions" covers a large area and don't see a problem with some bleedover. Lets stay civil and share our info!

Sport, unlike the Glow and Gas engine forums you may be used to posting in, folks in this here forum tend not to have big egos and get into pissing contest. Most of us who frequent here really enjoy ACTUALLY building conversion engines are just here to share our personal EXPERIENCES with others. None of us are into arguing for the sake of arguing.
Since I've joined RCU, I have had a few altercations with a handful of folks, some of whom have since been banned. One thing I learn early on is to quit when the name calling starts - period. I don't hold grudges and care little about "winning" an argument.
If you must insist that there is absolutely no karting info on those websites you posted, then I doubt none of us can convince you otherwise. How about we just leave it at that?
Have a nice fun and safe day RCin'.

Well folks, the time has come. This thread has run it's course.
I'm going to lock this up in the hopes that things will settle down and we can go on with our enjoyment of the hobby including conversion engines with maybe a slight amount of alternate conversion experience added in...
If we let this topic die for a while, some of us will cool off or move along to another subject?
Enjoy,
Jim
