is the 18cc poulan from the featherlite weedeater really a good replacement,in weight and power, for a .61 glow engine?

This engine, while it works great as originally intended, hasn't worked out as well for a converted model engine.

The ports are small and the displacement to weight ratio is not as good as some of the bigger engines. It's more of a 13-6 at 7,000 rpm motor.

The Homelites, Ryobi, McCulloch weed whacker work better.

Any more, the Poulan & Homelite small chain saws have been popular.

Enjoy,

Jim

I was thinking Hybrid. Leave the gas carb on it. Remove the magneto and coil. Mix up your gas/glow fuel and slap a glow plug in the cylinder. Cheap and easy.

I agree with Rcpilet. Slap a glow plug in and try gas/glow fuel. If you do not like that try glow fuel with 5 percent oil in it. May some Nitro if you need more power. Just eperiment untill you get the results you want. Capt,n
