I finally got the arf telemaster project finished. I am very impressed on how well the plane performs. here is what I did to the plane
pull-pull rudder
enlarged the rudder by 50%
dual elevator servos
replaced all hindges with good dubros
bombay door.
5 inch tires
new tail wheel assembly
moved elevator servos and rudder servo and also battery as far back as possible to compensate for gas engine.
reinforced firewall for gas engine reglued and epoxyed as much as possible without tearing off covering.
Scrapped the rubber band idea and made a wing joiner setup. worked out great.
If I do another telemaster It will be a kit build and most likely the 12ft tele.
I do want to tell everyone that is planning a gas conversion on a tele to be carefull of the factory covering. I don't know what it is but it bubbles almost instantly when it comes in contact with mixed gas. I will recover this winter. also I am in the process of building a set of skis for it. should be fun in the snow. here is a video enjoy, I know I am.

I have a 25cc Toro and it's an amazing little work horse.
I had mine on a 60 size Tiger Moth and it rocked,
No extra weight was needed.
Now I'm putting it in a Hanger 9 P-47.

ya I am extremely happy with it. Mine is the 2bbl version. The only complaint I have is it won't idle down well I have to keep it about 1/4 throddle or it dies. Not a big deal except when landing If I throddle back to much it dies and I dead stick it in. Good thing it's a telemaster with a great glide ratio. Forgot to mention I am using a vess 16x8 prop.

went for broke on the 8 footer. Planning on building the 12 footer here real soon. probably put a 30cc on it. I really want to put a 4 stroke gasser on it. Been wanting to convert one of those real bad, We'll see.
Like I was saying above it's way, way over powered but The guys I fly with wants me to pull their gliders up. So I suppose the extra power will help with that. I bet I could darn near hover right now. It will climb almost verticle I am sure it would with a different wing.
I bought the ARF from hobby-lobby. If I was gonna do the 8ft again I would do the kit. I am not impressed at all with the quality of the arf. It seems to be hot glued together, crappy hindges and real junk covering. But I guess for 210.00 you can't expect much. I went through and reglued as much as I could using epoxy and wood glue did alot of reinforcing to handle the gas engine. Over all it turned out well I am very impressed with the way the telemaster handles the weight of the gas engine.

I stuck with the magnito. simple and it hand starts real easy. If I can fix the idle problem I will be very happy. Don't know what you mean by AUW?

Thanks for the information. I have been a tele flyer for many years, never put anything bigger than a 2 cycle .90 fuel engine on one, but I just happen to have 3 8ft teles in my hangar, two flyable, one needs work. I also have a John Deere 19 cc that is a screamer. Guess what is going to happen next. Did you reinforce the wings any more? Did you put struts on the wing. You said you used a different wing attachment. Thanks for any information you can give me. Flathead 4

Flathead,
I'll try to get some good photos of the wing system I did and get them posted. I know a picture speaks a thousand words. but I'll try to explain. As far as reinenforcing the wings, all I did was made a profile of the wing rib shape then added a tonge that sticks out the front. I made two of these. I made them out of 1/4 ply. Then I doubled the thickness on the windshield side of the fues and made a recieving hole for the tonge to slip into. on the back I did another 1/4 piece of ply across the fues and drilled and taped for wing bolts.
Yes I did wing struts, I didn't like the factory strut setup. It seemed to week so I took a piece of scrap aluminium 3/16 x 3/16 and fit it across the bottom of the entire fues, bent up the outside edges to match where I was mounting the strut to the wing, As far as the little block of wood that is inserted in the wing from the factory I had one split out on me the last time I flew. So now I cut the covering away to expose the little block and removed them. I replaced both little 1" square blocks with a piece of pine that spans between the ribs. It should be much stronger. they measure right at 3/4 thick 1" wide and 2/12 long. glued in on three sides. I'll get some photos of that to. I haven't recovered it yet.
Ralph and pontiac,
as far as the motor goes I have no idea? I'm not real savy on these little motors. And this toro with the 2bbl carb I have never seen before. this is a first. I cannot see any external ajustment screws so I am asuming it is preset. probably for california emissions. Just guessing. I'll make a short vid on it running so you guys can see what I am talking about. Hopefully it will stop raining here so I can get this all done, Now that I got my elk hunting out of the way!!
here's a question. Is it possible that I am running a prop that is too agressive? What I mean by that is would the bite of the prop even at engine idle bog it down so much that it would cause it to die? I am running the vess 16x8 That may be a dumb question but I can't come up with any other possible reasons why the engine won't idle. Before I tore the engine down from the weedeater I test ran it and it ran and idled just fine. That is why I ask that question.

I recently bought a little koritz weedeater motor off of ebay. I can't find what size it is. but I have narrowed it down by the serial # to either a 16 or 20cc. This is a old but brand new motor. It has points and all. From what I gather it was in an estate sale and had been stuck up in the rafters of a garage and forgotten about. I got it for 20 bucks pretty good deal.
I was originally going to use this but the point setup is on the back of the motor so I would have do convert to electronic ingition. That's not a bad thing but I haven't done it before. so I stuck that motor aside for a future project. and went with this toro.

Yes, so far I haven't modified anything on the motor. I am using the 2bbl carb and side ports. If I change carbs it looks like you just blocked off the 2 side ports?

Thanks for the Pic's. The wings I have are all one piece wings, but I can see a way to secure them with your help. I am currently on a tour that my wife decided we needed. Will see our two Grandson's playing football and a grandaughter playing volleyball. Will be several days before I get home, but will keep you informed as to my progress. Flathead 4

Try this .... Make 2 gaskets for the side ports with out holes for the port.
See if that makes a difference.
To run as is you may need the stock muffler and air cleaner.
That is what the Carb. is set up for.
There was a Toro forum on here where all the ins and outs were discussed.
