Default ECHO chainsaw engines

I converted a 56cc ECHO saw engine some time ago. It is an excellent engine. It has gobs of power and is very light. The rub is that I had to free the crankcase from the saw frame. That is no big deal but it is time consuming. I am currently eyeballing a 78cc ECHO saw. That will be another big project but it will probably make 7-hp. What prop on that, 22x12? That might be really fun or just crazy on my Big Bee.

What do you guys think of ECHOs for conversion? Are there others that may be better or just prefered? I am wanting at least 60cc.

Echo's are great.

Look at the BME engines http://www.bmeengine.com/ I like the BME classic 50. It is pure Echo. http://www.bmeengine.com/

I had a friend with a 55cc Makita on a Big Bee and there was no problem in the power department. It had plenty of vertical

That engine was done by Ralph Cunningham Who he had a lot of trouble with to ever get the defective ignition replaced by Ralph. It took over a year and sending it back twice to ever get another ignition out of him.

Nice big bee!

Here is mine. I had a 41cc Zenoah on it at first. The pictures show it that way. I did not fly it with the ignition was back as in the photos. I was not completely happy with that engine so I put the echo on it. Much better. Vertical is unlimited.

I have done many Echo's and I think they are the best. Especially the 44 and 50cc versions. For your 78cc engine I would think nothing less than a 24 inch prop, you may find a 27/10 would work as well . all depends on how the motor runs when finished.

Hi,

If you know any one who works in a fire house, or anyone who does know someone you could ask around about the ECHO QV-680, 66.8cc or QV-8000 80.7cc Quick Vent saws. They should be real horses. The 680 is rated at max rpm of 13,000 and the 8000 is at 12,500, with no load. It would be a lot of work to cut the cases down but you know that. They are both in the range you are looking for.

Mr W8YE
I am Ralph Cunningham....I take exception to that statement...I don't know who your friend is, but any of my customers has only to ask for a complete refund in the event there is a problem...It does not take over a year to "ever get another ignition"...All he had to do was ask...
How about refreshing me with some details, like the name of your friend and some dates or times????? Ralph Cunningham, [email protected].
I have been trying to re register but there is some problem with your forum, so it was done using a customer's sign in information...
You can put the details on here if you want to, let's not keep it a secret ......

You kept trying to blame the carburetor and not your ignition. Did you ever run the engine?

Once we put a CH ignition on it and and the missing problems went away. He conveyed this ignition substitution fact to you and you replaced your ignition and it has run perfect ever since.

Do you sell parts or just the whole chainsaws?
