I am looking for a source for new short block echo engines, I have had some luck at my favorite small engine shop but these engines are generally used, cheap, but used.
Does anyone know where I can get these engines new in short block form (without having to buy 10,000 of them)

You can buy them. Search the internet for small engine parts sales. When you find some sites, what you are looking for is called "repower" in the parts sections. But get ready, they are very expensive. Usually $200.00 plus for Echo engines, without carb, carb adapter, muffler, ignition, etc.

Expensive yes but you can luck into some. I bought 15 23.6cc short blocks for $15.00 each as I recall. Sold some to a few guys here. Only problem with them was they were LH thread so you needed to do a little extra machining. I have never had any luck finding bigger displacement engines for what it is worth.

I have been looking for two 21cc echo engines for a twin senior telemaster I am going to build. I found a site that has the short blocks for $124, and on ebay I think they were 109. These engines were for the PB2100 blower, was there not a thread problem with the crank on this engine?

Just did that:
ECHO CS1080 shortblock, New from DLSMITH_23 on ebay $124
Farmers exchange wants about $210
Walbro WT-542, ECEDWARDS_TOOLS on ebay, $15
IF you don't have a lathe then go to,
Brillelli Customs for:
a prop hub $30
intake manifold $27
Get or make a muffler, ~$50?
Buy an ignition , ~$80
About $280
You now have a BME 50 clone!
$124 bucks for a little engine? I would not do that. Harbor Frieight Tools has Poulan chansaws for right at $100. They are very good for conversion. Use the engine and sell the rest on on EBAY? The weight will be simmilar, just throttle back. I got a thirty something CC echo saw at OSH for $30 a while back, no bar and refirbished, it was new.
Here is one on EBAY now:

I just came across a crate of new 25cc Husquvarna trimmer engines at work that can be had for cheap. PM me for details if anyone interested.
