I've only had my Comanche for 24 hours and I'm loving it. Had to get some new blades and the trims sorted out at my local (thanks Charlie @ Mr Toys Lawnton).
Fortunately I managed to break the blades only 5 minutes into flying it after that. Not sure if the stabilizer bar came out during it or not. Normally comes out after I'm crashed bad.
The photos are kind of my first 'war wounds' for a newbie heli pilot. Could be quite expensive though.

I WANT ONE, Sorry about the crash but get ready, they can happen often mostly if your a new pilot.

I started out with the Blade CX2, I have crashed & Glued, Replaced Blades, Motors, Inner/Outer shafts like crazy.

I was use to rc cars and not the flying stuff and learned that replacing parts when learning is part of flying Helis.

Ain't you glad you started out with this instead of, unlike some others W/ a BeltCP and crashing it within 5 seconds of takeoff (thats $).

From the looks of it that was a hard hit, if the center shaft and fly bar are bent or trashed get a new one. After putting it and the blades on bring the power up Sloooowly because if it's not right it will flip and break blades right off (I've done it). Now when you get it spinning up correctly and if theirs a vibration when flying it could be a bent outer shaft, (done that too). Learn slowly take short hovers and hops then toe in flying don't push it because it will save money and your nerves. O! always check the screws & linkages to make sure their tight before flying.

If I get one I will defiantly put Nav lights on it like I did the Blade, theirs nothing like taking it out at night when the winds down and buzzing around the yard as free as a bird, Happy flying JimbyJoe DownUnder.

yeah i was thnking about putting some lights on it at some stage. hey - just gotta pull the lights out of my Piccoz clone!

just before this crash it had new bottom blades put on and the trims re-set by my LHS; of course I had to give the NEW blades a good hack up, hence the photos. I've now put 4 new blades on. It has been hovering OK tonight but again the tail has started pulling moderately hard to the left. not sure if this is a trim thing or what. just to keep it hovering stationary i've got my rudder stick probably 3/4 way right.

yeah wanna take it outside, but unfortunately we've got a mini cyclone a few hundred miles north of Brisbane, so yeah i feel sorry for people flying REAL heli's.....

So it's got a tail spin were the tail is spinning left and nose right, that sounds like motor gain adjustment, I'm guessing at the LHS it had no tail spin?

I know with my Blade after flying the dog out of it I was losing power in one of the motors and developed a left tail spin. So I went to the book and looked at adjusting the motor gain to speed up the upper blades to stop it (The book go's by noise spin). I haven't played with the Comanche but the motors are inline and not side by side like the Blade. If you check out the Lama CoCo forums you should find info on this because the layouts the same or check the book. I'm not saying thats the Real Problem and adjusting the gains can be tricky so you my want the LHS to do the adjustments just to get it flying good.

When I got the blade I figured I would attempt adjustments or repairs my self before taking it to the LHS just to learn more before moving into the bigger Helis then use the LHS as backup if I just couldn't get it right (I've had to bite the bullet & do that some times).
It did help because I bought an hold Hummingbird V3 later on eBay that needed a lot of work and was able to work out the issues my self saving lots of money in the long run, now it's a steady bird to fly. Funny things effect these helis, after putting in new motors on my Blade I had some kinda tail hopping up and down. I asked the LHS and they said they didn't now what would do it. So for the heck of it I changed out the upper blades and it stopped. After looking at it I had blades from two diffrent packages because of running low due to crashes, so all blades aren't created equally after all.

Nav Lights, I made my on after finding some info on the net. Here's basically what I did. Went to Radio Shack and bought some LED's Pack of 25 for 3 bucks, one red flasher for 2 bucks and a pack of 1/2 watt omn's resistors for a buck. Stopped by the LHS and got servo wire and a couple of servo plugs for about 4 bucks. Soldered the stuff together to make a wiring harness and plugged into the 5th channel of the 4in1. If you start to go there check the net or let me know and I'll write down all the steps I took.

Hope this helped, Going to have a cup of joe & a smoke this early morning, Later Dude.

Crashing's cool it's something to talk about like the fish that got away but man it's expensive.

yo
ok had my last flight of 2007 tonight...hehehe...put the Prado outside and put the garage door down, and got down to business. funnily enough - first thrust up and it was hovering pretty straight with very little or no nose spinning to the left.
managed to break the right wheel AGAIN (after gluing it back on today). then the nose turning started and kept up, but i don't think it was as bad as last night. managed to hover for a few minutes before the first crash. hopefully when this mini cyclone goes I can take this thing outside! managed to build some more dirt jumps for my Duratrax Evader but hey this ain't a RC truck thread.
ok happy new year all.

does anyone know if you could replace the stock wheels with something more robust that doesn't snap every time you land wrong on them?
