Default Computer Tx and HBK2

I've been struggling trying to set up my Optic 6 to use with my HBK2. I finally got it so all controls are moving in the right direction and everything is neutral pitch at half left stick. Now the problem I am having is that when I throttle up, I sometimes get to full throttle and the heli does not lift. Other times I'll get to almost full and suddenly it will leap in the air (very scary, lol). Throttle and pitch curves are set at default with gradual increase on both (linear). The heli flies fine on the stock Tx. Any suggestions?

Makods:
You pitch curves should be for 0 degrees pitch up to 50% throttle and then from 0 to 10 degrees from 50% to 100% throttle.
Your throttle curve should be o0% at bottom of the stick and 100% at the top fo the stick with the graph at a 45 degree angel. This is in normal mode and should get you flying. You can play with the pitch curves from there.

I have a DX6i and do not know how many program points you have on pitch and throttle curve. But the curve numbers are the same.

I am not familiar with the Optic 6 however are you talking about starting up in Idle up (stunt mode on some radios) or normal mode? Most radios inhibit the stunt mode, at least untill you have started up in normal mode then you switch to stunt mode.
Usually you start off in normal and at about 3/4 stick you switch into stunt or idle up mode.
I hate to ask this but are you a experienced heli flier?

Yes Disney, the default curves are set like that with 5 points. Funflier this is in normal mode and no I am not very experienced with helis. However as I said, I can fly it quite well with the stock Tx just having problems with the computer TX

I am sorry that I cannot be of further help. I have a DX6i and am not familiar with teh Optic 6.
You might try and search RCU for an Optic 6 thread.

I was just going to ask if you had tried the stock tx ... and if it still did it I was going to point the finger at the ESC.
As the problem is erratic and you seem to know what you are doing as you have the curves set. Have you tried pulling the crystals out of both the tx and rx and reseating them? and on the same token does your Pitch control work ok as it is the same stick, smooth and linear? This is the stock rx isnt it or the Optic rx? Are you brushless? If you have a brushless set up can you hook up (does not have to be installed) your old brush motor and spped control and see if it still does it? I save my old stiff just to Easter Egg things on these occasions.

No difference. What diff would the power system make anyway if it flies well on the stock Rx? I must have something that I am overlooking on the Optic 6. Oh well I'll keep at it.

Stock Esky brush type motor and stock Esky ESC are very unreliable, lot of people have had problems with the Esky ESC brushless or brush type from catching fire to just being erratic (both that I have had were erratic sometimes worked and other times did much like you have happening). Most people here will agree with me on this. That was why I was asking about what kind of power system you have.
Problems that are erratic like that are usually not radio tx rx related unless its the Crystals themselves are not seated or defective. In all most TX rx are dependable and the problem is in a setting or a component that is defective. As your problem is a erratic one it is a little more difficult to trouble shoot untill we have a lot of info on the system.
So were in a process of finding out what is set how.
What kind of Esc do you have and do you have a program card for it if it was available? If you do or do not I would first reprogram your esc and make sure it is making the correct little beeps after it is set. Odds are if your throttle is the only thing that is erratic and not any of the other functions (no glitching or anything or servos acting erratic) it will be the ESC whether its a connection or a setting or a defective ESC is what you will be looking at here. Even a strong 40A ESC go bad or can be erratic for no apparent reason so don't rule it out. I have seen a few 30A fried for no apparent reason. No wait I take that back, Zimatosa was running it in his heli and he burns stuff up all the time just to see if he can.
Anyway check out the settings on the ESC and be sure the timing is correct for it along with the battery cutoff and brake off etc. I have a Turnagy and they have many settings same as the Hobbywing. Dynam only has about 4 to worry about.
