The GB Deezil replica shown above has been run.
Fits are excellent. Silky piston/liner. The bottom end incredibly smooth and free, yet no oil weeps from the front of the bearing. Contra-piston fit is perfect. Gas tight, but jumps up readily when running if compression is wound back. When turned over slowly with a propeller fitted, the piston falls to BDC under its own weight. It feels extremely free but I doubt this one has a roller bearing, which some of the GB Deezil replica's were reputed to feature.
.
It starts first or second flick after one choked turn; very like a good Mills 1.3. Every time. Even if under compressed. Manners are impeccable.
Props selected and shown below are a Kavan "FK" blue nylon 10 x 4; and an ancient Berkeley (?) "Air-O-Stunt" 10 x 4 'paddle prop'.
The Kavan was turned at about 6,300 RPM. A couple of hundred lower for the Air-O-Stunt.
In summary this is a first class "olde time" 2 c.c. side port. One can only wonder if the owners of GHC really knew what they had with the design.

Derek,
what is your opinion of that test stand?
I have the mount section but not the tank part and was wondering if the tank bit is worthwhile chasing.
Thanks.
P.S. Love that wooden paddle you have in pics 3 and 4!

Test stand is great. Available from a vendor who lists on the UK well known auction site.
I love the looks of the Air-O-stunt prop so much, I ran it.

Originally in 1977 I built 48 size with a sparky O&R 23 in it, that flew but when it arrived was the problem. Very heavy and it got damaged.
Fixed it up and put a Green Head 15 in it, and that was a good combination until it DTd onto a barb wire fence and demolished it.
This above one is using a couple of bits of the original and I stuck the DEEZIL into it as more or less a fun flier, and that it is. As said, it goes okay and is quite stable.

Here is one of my Deezil engines. This one is a CS, I also have a couple of Burfords and many original ones, some of which have been rebuilt with new cylinders and pistons so they actually run. This CS engine uses a self-machined inlet and OS .10 carb. It turns out to be an excellent R/C engine, very responsive.
