Hi, I've read through the forums a bit and I'd like to convert my OS 46FX to diesel.
I think I know everything I need...
Davis diesel conversion head
Davis diesel fuel
diesel safe fuel tubing
hand pump
Hayes fuel tank
Do I need to buy a smaller OS carb and/or a different muffler? Is there anything else I may be missing? Do you recommend a tach?
Thanks,

Original muffler are not problem since dieselengine are powerful, but you must lead the exhaust away from fuselage cause much oil (20-30% oil) in fuel.
Select bigger propeller until 30% than normal propeller, then fuel consumption will be 50% less than glowengine.
If engine run fine with original carburator, do not need to replace smaller carb.
You can use tachometer, but i self never used tachometer to checking rpm. Imortant there are not hard sound (knocking sound) cause to high compression, back off compression until hard sound are removed and the engine are running fast without rough rpm.

Thanks.
I just converted my 46 tonight. It sounds cool. It smells cool. I'm very happy!
Took about an hour to convert it all. I needed to swap the fuel tank and fuel tubing, swap the head, put some fuel in, put on a bigger prop on and put the starter to it.
It started up and idled but smoked a lot at full throttle. I had to lean it out about a half a turn at full throttle. It runs great now! I haven't touched the compression screw. It's probably set from Davis Diesel at the right setting I'm guessing.
Can't wait for saturday morning when I can fly. =)
There'll probably be people telling me I'm forgetting my glow starter when I turn put my starter to it.

Brew, are you running about a 12x8 or 13x6, the compression is not set from the factory, you need to set it according to Mr. Davis' instructions which are very well written. You need about a 30% greater prop load than as a glow engine. For example I ran a 12x8 two blade on my Fox .74 as a glow and 12x8 three blade as a Diesel. When you add more prop load you'll need to reduce the compression.
