Hey fellows, I just acquired a Taifun Hurikan 1.5cc diesel from a fello Canadian modeler. Its in complete but dirty/stuck shape. I plan to get it cleaned up and test run soon.

Anyone have any info on this engine? I can take a photo tomorrow...

It is a old german modelengine from 1960-65, not sure when the engine was maked. I has not info about effect.. [] It has reed valve and ballbearing.
The coolingfin and backlock was anodised greencolored. A nice engine.

Mine is red, not green. But its the same looking otherwise...

I managed to clean up the engine and try and run it. Yes, it IS green (or was green... seems that someone painted the cylinder muff and spinner red, it came off in the cleaner).

It will start and run off a prime but not carry on. As soon as it warms up it wont fire and all compression is lost. I think its worn beyond practical use. I will try later on tomachine a new cast iron piston, and see if I can restore it to running condition.

OK guys similar problem have a traxx glow rc truck and I was given a davis diesel head for the OS12 car engine ( I am not really into
rc cars ) but hey why not a diesel truck bolted on the head (holes line up) started on prime and quit when it burned off, turns out the traxx is a 15 not a 12 SO enough extra space around the head where it inserts into the liner that explains the low compression
