There is a Piper cub out there 25 size arf (glow) I bet the 15 as a diesel would do fine swinging a 9x5 or 10x4 prop I just picked up a world models J-3 built up electric ARF will put in a new firewall and mount and use the OS10 davis conversion the 15 MVVS would be too much --this looks pretty beefy and good hardware 48.5 inch span conversion will be a breeze full house set up 2 aileron servos

the guys at the club are all high about electric and since i hate electric cause i work in it (and diesel is more fun), i was thinking of finding a rubber powered kit (large). a long time ago i had tryed to build one but since micro servos where too expensive at that time i did not have much sucses

Ldalmas,

You have me confused on the 1/2A part. In some parts of the world an .09ci (1.5cc) engine is deemed 1/2A, but a TT 15 is a .15ci or 2.5cc engine (class A).

In the USA, a .049ci or .8cc engine is 1/2A...so you see the confusion. My TT .15 is a CL version (venturi, not throttle carb) and is a good running engine. As either diesel or glow it would be WAY too big for 1/2A kits.

I'm not terribly informed on electric, but 1/2A size is usually matched for a .05 electric motor.

Be aware that, when converting to internal combustion engines, you need to reinforce some areas to accept the additional vibration of IC engines.

In any case, good luck in your quest.

George

Good point, My "electric 1/2 size" are pushed up to a norvel 061 or 074 conversions 10 and above are not 1/2A size the 10 to 15s are not a bad conversion in the 400 size electrics depending of course on the planeI use built up ones not foamies martin

the problem is that i could not find anything smaller than a 15 and after all a bit of extra power is not bad.

Sounds like a more reasonable combination. The TT .07 as a glow will turn a 7x4 prop at nearly 17k rpm. For a diesel conversion I'd suggest an 8x4 and even a 9x3 wooden prop, especially if you are hand starting.
