I saw this oil at my local auto parts store. It now comes in a plastic package instead of the steel package.
It is a castor based lubricant for highly stressed two stroke engines. It was (and still must be) used in racing two stroke motorcycles. Is it any good for our diesels?

I see from a search of the fuels forum I did try some R30 for lube in home made fuel for my (gl*w head) MVVS .61 in 2002.
I seem to have been satisfied. I expect R30 will work just fine as a lubricant in a diesel fuel mix. I will pick up a litre pack for testing once my current jug of Castor oil is empty.

Here is a link to the official Castrol Web site PDF on Castrol Castor Oil types and specifications

The ether/kero mix in diesel fuel will blend with either Castor based and all mineral based oils. Not all mineral based oils however will mix well in methanol without separating out. As I mix my own fuels I just keep Castrol M as my castor based oil and then have no worries whatsoever
Cheers John

There was a rather convoluted thread on using Castrol R 30 in diesel fuels on the Barton forum recently.

I'd agree with John, its fine with ether based diesel fuels, but a bit problematical with glow fuels. A mate and myself bought some a while ago when we couldn't get Castrol M. We got it to mix ok with methanol initially, but overnight it stratified in the fuel container.
If your local dealer can get Castrol R-30 they should be able to get Castrol M as well. It mixes readily with both.
