I just had my 1st flight and plan has been clock at level flighton #17 at 205 MPH and 215PMH in a dive.

I also has 1st flight on #18 and clocked 168 MPH level and 187MPH in a dive with a certified radar gun .

Mark

ROFL

if the wonder reach 100 MPH in dive it's already a miracle, man look at that wing profile and try to be serious

A stock wonder untouched with an OS25 will do 100-120 mph easily.

You need to read my article and understand that the wing thickness is not stock. It is about 1/2" thinner before coming to wrong conclusions.

should better check your radar and switch from KmH to MPH

Now if your wonder do 200 MPH, go imediatly race bagostix and his bagowhiplash in the bagowip forum

now if you change everithing, including the wing profile, it's not a wonder anymore. Just buy some wood, you don't need the wonder kit !!!!

go above in the thread and have a look to my whiplash extreme picture (discontinued ultra light version of the curent whip)
it's powered by a jett 50 BSE with a 9/8 prop turning 20k +
that's a real 200MPH airplane. I have serious doubt about his ability to reach that speed, so please be serious

It is a Super Wonder. Kit not needed, wood is. wonder size and shape are the same just stream lined a little.

Yes the radar gun was on MPH.

It is faster than my friends Q40, we raced each other on Sundayand the wonder beet him and he was pissed.

Sorry Bud,

I also have a whiplash with a modified Jett 50 from jett with a ducted Fan piston and sleeve and retimed to do 24k on the ground with a 9X6 and racing Q40 muffler and my wonder was faster. I had my friend fly my Whiplash and I flew the wonder and passed him up everytime.

Sorry, I have nothing to prove. See you on Sunday at Whittier and Narrows to prove my point, what's yours?

i have one with just stock with a 15la on it. i was wondering if mini servos would be alright for the ailerons and elevator? I cut the whole about 1/3 from the back and its to shallow for a futaba s3004 servo. if minis are ok, which one should i get?

on my stock .15 I have excelent results with HS81. One of them is more than 400 flights with the same .15la and hs81, didn't change any servo gear.

tanks a lot crazyforflight, but since wonders fly 200+ I don't need turbine anymore......
just joking

thanks a lot for the link I will consider it, seems attractive price, but are those turbines reliables enough for a first turbine beginer?

I suggest we continue in PM it's a wonder dedicated thread after all

I am an expert on Wonder's.
I have built now about 18 of them.

If you are planning to modify as I alway do with a 25 to 36 engine, the following is necessary for lasting results.~~~~Hope this helps, pictures will follow.

strap the P70 to your ass and duct tape yourself to the Wonder. You should hit 300MPH

Seriously gentlemen:

For you none believers, A wonder is a fast flying kit plan.

Look at the spec's of Q500, boxy fuselage, exposed engine and airfoil is 1 3/8" thick.

Fuselage has to remain square. 2 in square at firewall to 3.5" square at the wing mount.
wing is 10" X50" constant cord and weighs 3.5 to 3.75 pounds.
fuselage is over 2 feet long with a large v-tail

Quickee's use a Q500 Jett or Nelson at 2.5 HP. and flies at 206 MPH maximun speed recorded.

Wonder stock wing thickness is the same, fuselage smaller and less wing area.

Use a thinner airfoil, keep the weight about 2.5lbs with a 2.2 HP .21 Rossi with tuned muffler at 24k RPM and speed speaks for itself.

As I previously mentioned if you modify absolutly everithing it's not a wonder anymore. you change the wing, you change the fuse, you change the tail, so where is the wonder?

I have no doubt about your skills to build an airplane flying 200+, but you shouldn't call it a wonder.

the main attractive part of the wonder is the fact in my opinion that altough it can be fly at a relatively hig speed and give some adrenalyn shot for extreme speed beginers, It has also extremely good slow speed performances for aproach and landing. When you know your wonder you land it at your knees.

I don't think it's the case of the airframe you describe in your earlier posts

for late evening Wonder fun as the sun sets on the flying field build a Wonder with a .15 3 HS-81 a 270 Mah battery and feather Rx build it light! fly it on the deck at a high ilde. Low and slow give the "park flyers" a show 20 minutes on just a few oz.

I have to side with SALMONBUG on this one, if the rifleman could get a "real Wonder" to break 150 I would be impressed. A Whiplash that has damn near no airfoil shape to it and 1/20th the frontal area of a wonder, might do 200 with that engine combo. Anyway there is a lot more to an airfoils suitability for speed than its thickness, the whole airfoil shape..laminar flow the whole bit. IMHO Why not ask Bruce Tharpe his opinion........
