Since the YS-45 is pumped it will run at any angle- Doesn't even matter if the tanks are too high, too low or too far away!

Great engines!

I used a pencil for the panel lines then I clear coated over them. Worked great! Here's some cockpit pics of the Combat Model F-16s I built and some shots of the Thunderbird and General Dynamics Prototype CBM F-16 I built.

Enjoy!

I thought Id provide a photo here incase some of you missed it - blown up detail of Jerry's jett-stream muffler install. Very slick, very well done - fits quite nicely.

I think Jerry noted earlier that he ran the fuel system configured with a header tank located right at the firewall. It is really amazing how well that configuration works for either a pusher setup like this, and also for tractor setups. Useful for those wanting to run a larger tank in a tight space ... you can place the main tank back closer to the wing if needed, and feed the header tank.

Also of note, the 60LX was actually first developed at the request of a modeler who needed as much power as possible to get an over-weight CBM F-16 off a limited runway. Worked quite well for that task - and has become a main-stream product now.

RCPilot66,

Nice Vipers. Where do you fly them? I see you are in Williamsburg; I'm down in Hampton and am redoing my CBM F-16 and was thinking about doing it in the T-Birds scheme too. Did you make the decals or buy them somewhere?

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

I'm a member at the Newport News club and the Colonial Virginia Aeromodelers in Williamsburg. I made the decals myself with my Stika vinyl cutter. I'll have my 9 year old CBM F-16 up and running this year. It's been a hangar queen the last couple of seasons.

Maybe we can get a photo of our jets together sometime this upcoming season. I'm the Contest Director for the Warbirds Over Williamsburg, maybe yours will be done by then and you can fly it off the grass up there for the show.

Jerry

Jerry,

Is there a website I could look at to get more info on the Newport News club or Colonial Virginia Aeromodelers? And by the way, are you Jerry, as in, Jerry McGhee, the author who wrote the review of the F-16N in RC Modeller a few years back? I still have that issue and I pulled it out; the planes in the article look an awful lot like the pictures you've posted here.

Also, when and where is Warbirds Over Williamsburg?

Yep, I'm the same guy who wrote the review for RCM.

The Newport News website is: http://newportnewsrc.org/

The Colonial Virginia Aeromodelers site is: http://www.homestead.com/cvarc/cvapage2.html

The Warbirds Over Williamsburg was held May 20, 2006. We haven't decided on a date for this years but it will most likely be around that same date and they want a 2-day event this year. We had a great fly-in with 32 pilots and 58 aircraft show up for WoW I. We're hoping to draw a bigger crowd for WoWII and hopefully a few more pilots and planes.

Has anyone hear built a combat models F-15? I just got one and I think its missing some stuff. I am also wondering if there is a build video like the others?
Suggestions for motors? I have a ys 45 side exh that, but i think that may be to much for it.

If he doesnt respond by the time the other kit sales Im going to bash him in his feedback. I have been very nice and emailed him about 5 times. Hes leaving me no choice. I have an extra nib ys 45 side exh that im going to put on mine since I have the side exh muffler with it is so small it will screammmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

Do it! There is no excuse for that when selling something... The YS is a monster as you probably already know- On a regular muffler it is similar in performance to an OS-46FX though Really needs the pipe to realize it's full potential! Or if you want something less "conspicuous" the Ultrathrust or Jettstream would be awesome!

I know the airplane is small so even the stock YS would probably rock but hey...

Are you gonna bash retracts into it?

Keep me posted, I had a "snipe" set-up on that thing on Ebay but decided to get the Phenom instead for now---

i would really like to have retracts, but it doesnt have any instruction on how to add them, and theres no video = ( Oh yeah hey i put the 1st 2 primer coats on my F-16 today YEAHHHH got a ys rear on it with a tuned pipe inside. I plan on doing final sanding tomorrow and then add the gray and blue monday. Trying to come up with a way to add the markings on it. The stock noise gear is giving me problems still. I will get it working eventually, im adding panel lines by using 64thousands pin strip and painting over it. After its dry i will remove the stips and it will leave panel line in the paint! Do u happen to know if the f-15 even came with a build video?

I dunno- I found a VHS in my closet that said "F-16" but it was the actual build video for the original F-16 (The tractor version that was s slope soarer) I watched pretty much the whole thing but nada- I scanned through the whole thing...

After the credits it does show the F-15 in kit form then has a few minutes of it flying (Has retracts) but no build video or talking, just music- It is sort of a preview for the F-16N, F-15 and A-10.

I have the other video somewhere that is for the F-16N I will try to find it---

Does anyone have an instruction manual for the Combat Models F-16N. I have been trying to get hold of Derick with the company for over 3-weeks. I did not recieve it with the model. I will pay for all costs to get a copy. P.S. is anyone else having trouble getting in touch with CBM Jets ??? There were parts missing as well. I can be reached @ [email protected] or call me @ (404) 886-9684

Hi guys, still looking for a manual, however if someone needs it "Derrick’s" cell # (with Combats Models) is (858) 449-5094. Derrick if you see this just call people back. It's OK if you if you’re having problems with the parts we're missing but at least call your customers back. Most people building this model have a lot of experience at fabricating stuff. I believe this model if properly supported could be one of the industries best sellers because of its flight cartelistic, thus giving people a realistic plane to step into turbine models. I've built (2) over the years and went back to it because it takes a lot of abuse and can be flown at any rc field!!! Plus it’s a real crowd pleaser.[&o]

Has anyone put droptanks on their CBM f-16 and if so where did you get them from. I am coming home from my deployment in the desert tomorrow and I got one that I cant wait to build. I had two a few years ago already build with ys 60s with tuned pipes on each. the guy I bought them from said they had been clock at 130 mph. I lost the first on letting it get to far away and could tell the top from the bottom (grey camo on top and bottom) my father repainted the second one so that wouldnt happen again. I am thinkin of painting the next in the isreal air force colors (tan camo top with grey bottom) I thought of getting the tanks for the yellow aircraft f-16 but it looks a little smaller than the CBM and may not look right. for you guys at new port news, I will have to come check you out. I will be stationed in norfolk when I return.

Thats a nice gun you have. I used to be in the 55 SOS at Hurlburt just down Hwy 98 from P-Cola. We had the MH-60G; our neighbor was the 20 SOS and they'd put .50s or miniguns on the ramp of thier PAVE LOWs like you have there.

When you get to Norfolk you've got to check out the Fentrass NALF club on the weekends; several of the members there are turbine flyers and there are a lot of good guys and planes there.

I have an older Y/A F-16A and the CBM F-16N...the dimensions are almost exactly the same. I'd worry about drag and weight with the drop tanks on the CBM F-16 though.

Hey guys,

i just got my hands on a NEW IN BOX Combat Models F-16 kit.

Im looking to explore the power source, i can get a good price on a used YS 45 rear exhaust \ pipe, but im also thinking about electric motor as an option.

What is your opinion ?

If anyone went electric, which motor \ ESC \ pack did you use ?

thanks !

There are some electrics around.
Here's a recent thread, at "the other forum", on a very light electric build:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564066

If you add retracts and stuff, you probably need some more Watts.

Thanks but this is not what im looking for.

Im looking to electrify the complete kit with the retracts and so on, with the whole 8-9 lbs weight.

So far i only found one guy, who put a Himaxx HC 50 on the complete airframe with a 5000mah 8S pack and it seems to go really nice.
