RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
Spar,
The 91 FX is about a year old and it is broken in. When I get my Jetstream muffler I will try the 12x8, right now I have an 11x6 turning 12,200 but not consistently. With the tuned pipe it just wouldn't run well and had a hard time getting on the sweet spot. I added 1/4
" ply doublers to all of the retract plates. I had CJM make me a set of mechanicals that look great and are much stronger that the stock gear. I am flying off grass and the deluxe tires fell apart.

R/C Foolish-
I have a OS.91FX in my F-16 also.
I replace the stock muffler with the JETT stream muffler and it was the best thing I did.
I`ve been flying the jet with the stock muffler for about 15-flights but just wanted and needed a little more power+speed.
The 91FX came alive with more RPMs and power with the Jett stream muffler, its great.
Yes, the best prop for this set up is a 12x8, I tried all sizes on this and the 12x8 is the best.
You`ll see.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
Hi all, i read several setups for CG (again...).
I own the "older model" Should i take 8 or 8,5 inch for the cg and wil I use the 15 inch mark OR the leading edge wing root to set it up?
Thanks![:-]

Someone earlier had repored problems with the LE measurement and went with the 8" from fuse sides and was much better. New version works good at between 8" and 8 1/2"
Some pics....
How low can yo go??

Yes, forget about the LE measurement it's terribly inaccurate, CG is critical on this plane when it comes to the landing. Mine flies and lands nice at 8.5" measured on the fuse

Bob27s,
I finally have this set up perfect. Running my OS 91 fx with Jett stream muffler with an APC 12x6 prop. It turns 13,700 rpm, take off is a little long but given up elevator she takes to the sky. Vertical is strong and it is even faster on high dives to the deck. I reinforced all of the landing gear plates with 1/4" ply doublers and upgraded to CJM mechanical retracts with BVM 2-5/8" wheels. Landings are impressive as she touches down on the mains and the nose just settles down and slows right away. Best thing I did was to get rid of the Macs tuned pipe. I might try an APC 12x8 to get a little more pull. I had about 6 flights today and each was more fun than the last.

Glad you added the Jett Stream pipe. It awakens the OS FX right up and you should not hesitate to try the 12x8. Get one, balance it, then hang on. I found it shortened the runway takeoff length and upped the speed too. Vertical is amazing!!! Very large jet like loops.

Thanks Razor, I just wish I had my friends gear, as he takes the best inflight shots I have ever seen.

Bob, I just put in an order for one of your jet stream mufflers too. After all the good stuff I read about this muffler in combi with OS91FX I couldn't resist anymore. This forum works well for your company I think.....
Can you also recommend the JS muffler for the OS46LA?
Grt,
William.

Fortunately the right product tends to speak wonders for itself.
The OS91FX had some earlier issues, and developed a bad rep - it is actually a pretty good engine, in the right conditions. Folks that try to run that sucker with a 15" diameter prop are bound to have more issues than when you let it turn up like the 'big .61' it was designed to be.
As for the 46 LA... I believe this is the 35.5mm muffler bolt spacing. It is different than the 37mm spacing for the 46FX (et al) engines, but I believe Dub has a muffler available for it.
However, consider the performance gain for the investment. The 46LA has a fairly small crank/carb/porting. Although it is a pretty good, reliable sport engine, it is not going to gain a tremendous amount from adding a tuned exhaust to it. But it will take advantage of the jett-stream if you prop it so the engine turns over 14,500 rpm (groud rpm). For consideration here, a $75 TT.46pro will turn a 9x6 at 16+K rpm from the box - balance that against what your 46LA is doing now, figuring you can gain about 1200 rpm - before adding a $70 exhaust system to it.

Anyone tried flaperons with this plane? My electric conversion is about 1 lb over glow, flies great but landings can be scary, thinking about flaperons to help out a bit. With the inboard mounted ailerons, I think it would work great. Also thought about tailerons and using the ailerons as full flaps.

I have heard of putting the new style of canopy on the 2nd generation F-16 has anyone done this yet,and how does it look?I believe there is some cutting of the fuselage.Or maybe its time to trade this one in for a new one.Its close to flight#250.I still fly this plane almost every day.It is one of my favorite planes.

Here's the three of us in formation. Taken up in Bellview Florida at a fly-in. We fly all identical setups using jett 90 lite engines and 18 oz Tettra bubbleless tanks. We're now adding smoke now that we've figured the system out.

Here's a few more pictures. Smoke system works pretty well now, and we're putting it on the other two planes soon.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
Thanks everyone for the compliments.
One of our guys put the smoke system in after tinkering with it for a long time.
And no, that's not a doctored up photo. We usually fly about 20 to 30 feet apart in our show, when we're doing well. That day was probably our best show we've ever done and we had a good photographer show up. We fly almost every week at the Osceola Flyers club in Kissimmee Florida, if anyone wants to come by and see for themselves. We're usually there Sunday afternoons. If you have a Cermark F-16 with a 90 lite in the nose, bring it with you.
