Actually all those wing- and tiplets, canards and other stuff were intended for examining maneuvrability issues.
The plane is called a HIMAT: Highly Maneuvrable Aircraft Technology...
Check this out: HIMAT

yep, end up pointing the other way before the guy following blinks
if this was so successful why is it we don't see this layout in modern combat planes. The latest designs arnt far off a stealth F-15

Take a look at the Eurofighter, it comes closer.
Also stealth capabilities are becoming very important the last few years. More important then speed... Low level flying, fast maneuvering and not being seen are the prime objectives for a fighter plane these days...
All those little fins and winglets light the plane up like a christmas tree on the radar I gather...

true, the aim these days is not to see the other plane before you kill it, let alone get close enough to have to dogfight. then again, during Korea the forces did learn to put guns back on planes like the F-4, i believe, because dogfights did happen when they thought that era was over with their new missiles.
The Eurofighter is almost as old as me, i think the original brief started back in 1979 and what is recognizable as a Eurofighter drawn up by the mid 80's, during the 90's some effort was made to make it stealth but not by design like the F-117 or B2, rather hoping paint would do the job.

Don't know what the AMA would have to say if you flew your supersonic model around a local village?
If you did it over a lake then they couldn't complain. Supersonic flight across water is legal.

How fast can you fly?
Now thats fast!
Well I took my dust out today and found a major problem. Usually I can fly exactly 2 1/2minutes on one tank 6.oz.
Today I found that my fuel line and clunk had come off inside my tank. So I would fly and the fuel level would drop below the fitting and I would run out of fuel. Also caused the engine to run real erratic. For the longest time I was wondering why the engine was so finicky and now I found this.
I pulled in a little more of the brass fitting in to have more for line to grab on. I cranked back up and immediately found it ran flawlessly and consistent.
I took it back up in air and flew around under pipe and was able to get almost 4 minutes in! Amazing with this engine. Next flight I leaned out a little more and got it up on pipe and now can fly almost 3 minutes!... yeah it is not a long time but now I can enjoy it a bit longer in air.
Just a note out to other speed freaks..... check your fuel lines in tank.. I felt like a total idiot for not finding this earlier but glad I did find it.
Also going to have some videos of some WOT passes tomorrow if weather permits

How fast can you fly?
My fastest plane to date has been a DD with an OS Max-H 40, 9x6 prop. All up weight under 2 pounds. Never got a radar gun on it, but the saying "goes like stink" fits. Best guess estimate 120+? Second fastest plane is a Patriot with Como.51 and Mac's tuned pipe, 100+?

I can't compete with horizontal speed but I once crashed my P51 mustang Funfighter vertically into the ground at full throttle from 300 feet. Does that count?
