I have a stock mt2 rtr. The t15 engine sucks and wont hold tune, so im thinking of upgrading to the o.s. .18cv-rx w/ rotary carb (i heard it was good). im also thinking of upgrading the clutch bell and the spur gear, but im not sure how many teeth for the clutch bell as well as the spur gear. I wont good top speed as well as good acceleration, that does not limit the capabilities of the engine. also i want to upgrade my tune pipe, is this a good one: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCPX4&P=&I . If not, whats a good tune pipe

yes do yourself a favor and upgrade to the .18cv-rx, that's what I have... I love it! and for the spur and clutchbell, just get a racing clutchbell with the same amount of teeth as the stock one, or one or two teeth down/up. the spur you should probably just leave, it'll be fine... but as for your final gears, you're gonna need to swap them to the steel ones, due to the fact that the plastic ones are cheap and will break and grind and wear waaaay faster due to the mass power of the .18cv-rx compared to the T15....

the T-15 is a P.O.S hands down, you're better off with an o.s... very user friendly and holds a tune very well...

OK, heres what you gonna need to run the OS. I've arrange it from bare minimum to other stuff which is nice, but not required initially...

BARE MINIMIUM:
============
1x OS .18 CV-RX w/11J Rotary Carb
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXGGP7&P=ML

2x HPI Heavy-Duty Final Gear Set P1x38T/P1x13T
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXJYM2

1x HPI Engine Mount 20mm Purple
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXCLR3

1x HPI Hex Wheel Hub 12mm Silver (4)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXJYM5

ALSO RECOMMENDED:
===============
1x HPI Racing Clutch Nitro
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXLW03

1x HPI Racing Fuel Tank 100cc Nitro MT2
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXJFE2
(the .18 does go through the fuel a little quicker, so its nice to have a slightly larger tank..also the 100c tank is primerless which means no more leaks!)

If you want to upgrade the clutch bell you can, although it is not STRICTLY required intially. If you want 2 though, I would recommend upgrading to proper bearings instead of the needle bearing that comes with the stock RTR. here are the parts...

Its also worthwhile upgrading to the same gear ratio as the 18ss which is a 15T CB and a 49T spur...
1x HPI Racing Clutch Bell 15T
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLST7&P=ML

1x Bearings for CB
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD115&P=V

1x Cone Washer
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=HPIC3245&P=K

1x HPI Spur Gear 49T Savage SS
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXFKM1&P=ML

TUNED PIPES:
==========
The THS one you mentioned (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCPX4&P=&I) is pretty good apparently, but there are ones a lot cheaper if you don't want to spend that much...

Associated Muffler RPM Tuned Side Exhaust
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXBMH0
Will also need - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXTT82

HPI Aluminum Tuned Pipe MT2/EVO - hasn't come out yet but looks good...coming Early dec.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPNB9&P=7

================================================== ======

That should get you started...any Q's, feel free to ask!

thanks rcnz and mtrchamp

whats cone washer for?

also, will the associated tuned pipe work with the mt2? would it be better to buy the hpi one thats about to come out? Is anyone better than the other?

also would this engine mount work: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXN373&P=&I, i'm trying not to spend too much but still get the essentials

Is there a huge difference in speed and acceleration if i don't change the clutch bell and spur gear?

How is the racing clutch different than the stock?

I'm definitely upgrading the fuel tank to 100cc i heard the o.s. engine burns through gas

The engine mounts you have listed will work just are not as strong as they are cast and doe not have the extra mounting hole where it bolts to the chassis. Yes I recommend waiting for the HPI pipe and when it comes out I plain on changing to it over the Associated I have now. The race clutch in my opinion is just a much better clutch all around! The stock CB is junk with a very poor bearing set up. The CB teeth wear so quick over the Race CB you will go through at less 2 of the stock ones to every one of the Race if not more. All so when the stock CB wears it all so puts a lot of wear on the spur so they have to be replace much more often as well! So in the long run you will come out much better up grading to the Race CB.

Goes between the CB and the screw that screws into the pilot shaft. Its specified in the MT2 18ss instruction kit....I recommend you refer to this when installing the new engine, CB and bearings....

The Associated pipe will work fine - just need to get the mounting kit specifed above...the HPI thats coming out is specifcally designed for the MT2...as regards performance, no one will really know until they try it!

Even with the stock gearing, you'll definately notice that the CV-RX has a lot more torque and grunt off the mark. Top speed is quite a bit higher than the T-15, even with stock gearing. But you'll really want to upgrade your gearing to notice the true difference the bigger motor makes....

I'm definitely upgrading the fuel tank to 100cc i heard the o.s. engine burns through gas
Good idea...the O.S doesn't burn through the fuel, but it is a little bit thirstier than the T-15...however with the 100cc tank, run times are great and when its properly tuned, its lasts quite a while...

Once you try a good receiver pack you will never go back to double A.

What makes you think something is wrong? What is your engine doing?
