I've finished the fiberglass work on this VF-3. Should be able to do a little prep sanding tonight and get the base primer on. I am going you try Bryan H's method of rolling on the primer. With any luck I should be able to start shooting color in 24 hours. I am thinking I am going to shoot a base white coat if I am lucky enough not to have pin-holes right after the roll on primer. I made sure I had it just wet enough with epoxy before I rubbed in the micro-balloons.
oh the fun I am having - glad I am getting done with the boring stages here : )

I won't have mine, but we may have a new one. Mine went to Texas for some more in depth testing.
But if we get Stephen's done in time, I'm sure he won't mind letting you fly it. After the contest when there's not 5 planes in the air (you know Andersonville's reputation!) It's gonna be tight, but here's hoping.....

Hey Mike, How about an update on V3 availability. Did you get that pile of foam cut yet?<G> I can't wait to start gluing balsa sticks together!

Mid-late June. First run is all but sold out, only a couple of pro glow kits left. All kits will ship at some point in June, the sooner the better. After that run, I am taking a small breather until after the Nats. When I get back home, I'll begin the manufacturing and shipping of the full on runs and it's first come, first serve. The lead times could get a little long at that point, but it's hard to predict. We're trying to have some stock built up before we leave, so that will help things greatly.
The foam stack doesn't seem to be getting much smaller, but yet we've cut a trailer load already....
I have 80% of the kit pieces already here, and am just tidying up the details as far as parts fit, etc.
The last item that has to be handled is the instruction manual and documentation. I want to be very thorough so this could take a few weeks, or maybe more.
Then when everything is in place, we ship everything at once. So, some time in June....for certain, but mid or late June I really can't tell just yet.

I still have a couple not spoken for YET. I don't expect them to last long. No bottom of the heap stuff though, these kits are all very similar in weights etc.

Arch,
That looks great. I am dying to see one of these up close and personal. Do you know of any heading to D4?

I love this pic.....
However, I wonder if Archie is trying to tell me something....like, it gets lower every week before his plane is done or something? LOL
Ok, status report: I have 2 pro kits left, then that's it before the Nats. After the nats it's whoever sent a check or Paypal first. I'm not killing myself cutting foam and laying up composites before the Nats, I need practice (and a bit of a break).
I'm working on a FAQ for the web site, and the files for the support forums. The build threads will begin within the next 10 days. I have a lot of planes to build, so I'm taking lots of pics. Some of the pics are not exactly what comes in the kits, because I have made some changes to make life easier.
At any rate, I love this forum. Thanks RCU for having a place where we can share and learn!

Every week? I've been getting lower daily...by next weekend, I'm gonna be recovering the wing tips. I definitely like this color scheme better though. Seriously though, this airplane is so locked in at everything it does, and requres so little rudder for knife edge stuff. Really makes this stuff easy.

Hi Dave,
the spec sheet says 8 hours - I shot that white base at 6pm, so I should be able to get up and wet sand and tape in the morning. I've got some special paints for this bird and a few tricks. This is a customer plane, mine is still siting neglected but not for long....
stay tuned...
