There's most probably a burr in the slot that locates the barrel. Remove the barrel and look in the slot?

There is another possibility - if the idle mixture set screw is turned in too far the carb barrel won't close all the way.

Fantastic help here, yes, the carb idle screw was in all the way, thus keeping the carb from closing, a couple turns out and it now closes like it's supposed to. have no idea how it got screwed in, but anyway, thanks guys for the help, now i can go back to work tonight and try to get this plane together. However, I did check for the burr and since that wasn't it, I was stumped again until the set screw post.

It's been a while. I looked at TT PRO 46 pictures and didn't see a idle speed adjustment screw. Most newer designs do not have this screw.

Second guessing the next issue will be the factory setting which is now history but doesn't matter anyways.

Open you barrel just a bit to an approximate idle position-this isn't much.

Then close the low end needle.

Next Open the high maybe -2-3 turns

Next attach a fuel line to the carb nipple long enough to blow in

Now Blow into the tube and open the low end until you hear a hissing noise.

This should now be good enough to get you going and dial in from from their
