RE: Parkzone Typhoon 3D ?
Hey Guys,
A few days ago I received my Typhoon and had a few successful fights and one unsuccessful flight, but from the beginning I haven't had much range to fly it. It seems that if I get it maybe half the range away that I can get my Super Cub, it cuts out and the engine stops, but if I bring it closer to me then everything is fine. I would estimate the cut outs at about 300 feet, if that, anyone else have this problem? Could it be fixed by replacing the receiver?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Daniel.

No never had that problem Daniel, what you may have to do is call Horizon Hobby and speak with one of the techs and he will gladly help you out. Horizon is really good with their customer service and will except a broke up plane and replace a new one for free if there was something electronically wrong. So if I were you I would call this number 1(800)-338-4639 and ask the Horizon people if you can speak with a technician. From there you should tell him your side of the story and then he will probably ask some questions then answer them obvisouly.
He will then FOR SURE tell you to ship it back to them and they will check it out. It is going to be repaired or be replaced for SURE! Guaranteed Fix or a new plane.. Thats how Horizon is I had to send a defected (Pkz F-27B)plane back once and they just gave me a new one! So dont worry any more and dont fly anymore, just call and send it back.
If you need any more help just Pm me.

Hey guys...got tired of the saggy covering and toy looks of the original scheme on the Typhoon and mine was starting to wear a bit after about 50 or 60 flights to date.
Here are some pics on my re-maiden after the refurbish. Hope yall like. Flys better too with the tight covering.

Thanks man - Yeah, unless you get close and see the minor creases on the ailerons - it really does look new.
The red is monokote, the blue trim is monokote trim stripes, and the gray is pactra racing finish paint. Nice that the Zfoam doesn't melt like other foamies when you paint it.

Hello all,
I'm new to lipo batteries and just got the Typhoon2 a couple of weeks ago, the stock lipo was damaged during transit, so I need a replacement, could someone recommend one, please
PS (Tried to get the original lipo but everywhere seems out of stock)

I personally use commonsense packs. They are a little larger than thunderpower, but quite a bit cheaper and work with my electrafly balancer. Plus, they seem to last a bit longer.
I use the 15C 2100mah 3S1P packs which run about 69.00 on their website and at most LHSs.

Thanks Nitroaddict,
I will be using the Parkzone DC 2-3 Cell Li-Po Fast Charger which will charge/balance those packs, but am a little confused about battery ratings, can you tell me if its ok to use those packs with the 25-Amp Pro Brushless ESC as the packs are rated 31 amps with 42 amp bursts.
Thanks again for your help

Yes - you should be okay. I bought the PNP version of the typhoon. It came with the stock motor, esc, and servos. I use a berg7 receiver and those packs and have been for probably 100 flights without any issues.
Flying 3D, I get about 10min flight times. Just punching holes in the sky, I get about 15-18mins.
Just remember to always unplug the pack when done, don't just turn off the switch. I did this on accident, and the battery got over discharged and destroyed.
True rc dot com also has some specials. Packs are a little cheaper, but I think the have TP balance plugs on them.

Great, thanks again Nitroaddict
I have been looking at Thunder Power RC Pro Lite 2100mAh (http://www.rctoys.com/rc-products/TP-2100-3SPL.html), free worldwide shipping which is good considering where I live, what do you think?

The TP Prolites are excellent batteries. I have used them before. They are a little more than the commonsense packs, but are smaller and a bit lighter. With free shipping - they would be the same price as the commonsense - great choice!

Hello All,
Can somebody tell me if other batteries use the same tap as the stock lipo for the typhoon 2, after buying a thunder power battery, I now realise the tap will not fit the charger and thought of maybe trying an adapter

RE: Parkzone Typhoon 3D ?
Irish,
I swith all my connectors to Anderson Powerpoles. I love them. When I buy a new battery, I put this connector on. When I buy/build and airplane, I use a Powerpole connector. Now everything matches. No adapters! Be careful if you snip the end of a LiPo connector off. Do it one wire at time so the metal cutters don't short the battery. I did this ONCE. Cost me a $50 battery![:@]

Thank for the advice tclaridge, Just incase anyone else is looking for this, I found it here: http://www.commonsenserc.com/product...roducts_id=268 - the parkzone (PKZ1040) uses a JST-XH type connector, this adapter goes from a TP battery to JST-XH type connector (reversed polarity).

Hey Kids, check out some of my You Tube 'Phoon videos. They are actually several months old. I've moved onto the 'Phoon2.
The Phoon at the track videos were taken on a small digital by a not so good camera person I happen to be married to. Also, I lost my onboard camera on my F27C and have yet to purchase a new one. Look for the f27C videos in that forum.

RE: Parkzone Typhoon 3D ?
Hello all,
Have been away from the forum for quite a while and I am feeling a bit daunted by all the info out here about this plane. I have had my typhoon since they first came out and have flown it countless times, love it. I have had know problems with the stock set up until now. I have been flying with the stock Ni-MH batteries and they have finally bit the dust. I don't have the documents that came with the plane anymore :-) could someone please let me know what Li-Po pack to get for the stock plane, if I remeber right the elctronic guts that come stock can handle the Li-Po but I don't remember the limitations. If this is outlined somewhere else please just point me in the right direction! Thanks So Much!
Stan

RE: Parkzone Typhoon 3D ?
forgot to mention I have a Celectra Li-Po charger that can charge 1-3 cell at rates from 250mah to 2A. So think it would work for whatever battery I get for the typhoon, correct?
Thanks
Stan
Thanks

RE: Parkzone Typhoon 3D ?
I use DualSky batteries on my Typhoon. They are 3-cell, 11.1v, 1350 mah rated 15C on discharge and cost around $35 each. They keep the weight down since they are small. Flights last between 10 and 11 minutes, depending on how you use your throttle.
I have also used the larger 11.1v 2200 mah batteries with it, but I prefer the 1350 size since it hovers better with the smaller batteries.
Hope this helps you out.
