Thumbnails
When I'm in the forums viewing posts it shows an outline with heading of "Attached Thumbnails" but there is no picture or link to click on. When I do a forum search and it shows results there is a symbol to click that opens a box of attached PDF files. When I click on them a blank screen appears. How do I get the thumbnails to open to view a picture that was posted? Thanks

Do you have a link to a sample post?

I have the same problem and cannot find an answer. Its very frustrating.

All the pictures in the build threads are gone! Why?
|
Hi,
Was this resolved, i have same problem no matter how i view thread my phone, chrome from windows chrome from ubuntu, does not work :( Trying to check this stingray 120 thread (i cannot add url cause not allowed - less then 10 posts) Thanks |
The problem still exists , I cannot see any pictures. The box below thumbnail’s is empty.

Same. I wanted to go back to refer to the build log of a plane I will be starting but the thumbnails are gone. However there are some pics from someone else posting in that thread. So images in that thread still works just cannot see any of the OP's images. Might be related to thread age and the repo containing thumbnails may have changed. Another build thread from the OP of the link below still has images showing in his more recent (2019) build thread.
This thread: https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit...4-scale-4.html The funny thing is I was going to his build threads to go save all images to my PC before they disappear because I've seen this before. I am too late. :( -Steve |
Still getting complete silence from this site's admins. I even created an issue to the admins about the issue. Again silence on any reply, none. My advice, if you have build threads with images you want to start do them over at RCG.

So 20+ years of photos are just gone? That should be considered a crime! Those pictures were invaluable! Thousands of hours of build documentation, So what, they are just gone?
There has to be a way to retrieve the pictures? Right????? Please - Say it isn't so! Just a shame, what a disappointment! |
:(

From a practical standpoint they should have a backup.
Restoring the photos while keeping all the posts since whatever happened actually happened is likely the challenging part. And maybe I'm giving 'them' too much credit regarding backups. |
The thing that's really irritating me is their silence. I sent them two (2) forum issue complaint posts and haven't heard anything and there are at least two threads bringing up the issue. I put way too much stock in RCU.

Did some investigation. I am in the software development profession but not HTML or web page development. It appears to me to be a web scripting, PHP, issue. I checked 4 build log threads that I follow from VincentJ. The newer ones, post 2017, work and show images but they appear to use HTML code for embedded images while the older threads (pre-2017) use PHP.
THREAD WITH EMBEDDED IMAGES (GOOD!) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Sig Four Star 60 build URL for this thread: https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit...-60-build.html Thread start date: 03-02-2019 This thread's first post has 2 images showing. There are 6 images in the first post. (----- START OF THREAD POST HTML -----) (----- END OF THREAD POST HTML -----) Like the previous build thread this image is not using PHP script to display, but HTML instead. The next two thread example below both use PHP to display images and it does not work. ================================================== ========================== THREAD WITH NO EMBEDDED IMAGES (BAD!) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Calrl (sp!) Goldberg Tiger 60 Build URL for this thread: https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit...-60-build.html Thread start date: 11-18-2017 First image (bad, not showing) (----- START OF THREAD POST HTML -----) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...3241881b48.png (----- END OF THREAD POST HTML -----) When you click on the image URL in the HTML code (Developer Tools in Chrome browser) Like you were clicking on an image to show in its own html page this is the resulting URL for that tab in the browser and the image is black. The tab title is "attachment.php (1x1)" https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/att...1&d=1511638885 ANOTHER THREAD WITH NO EMBEDDED IMAGES (BAD!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sig Spacewalker II 1/4 scale URL for this thread: https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit...1-4-scale.html Thread start date: 05-13-2013 Like the previous old thread clicking on the image to open a new browser tab does the same thing, blank image. Here is the HTML code for the first image inside the "Attached Thumbnails" block like before. (----- START OF THREAD POST HTML -----) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...1bf65ece2a.png (----- END OF THREAD POST HTML -----) There are four images in this post. "attachment.php" is a common thing for the threads with no images. The threads with good images do not use that PHP script file. Not sure if this helps anyone but I sheds some light for me. I can't do anything about it though. |
Looks like the images have returned. I checked a couple threads. Thank you site admins.
