Futaba 72 mhtz RX for LiPo batteries?
I have been using Futaba R617FS 2.4 g. receivers with both NiMH and LiPo battery-powered aircraft systems. Since Futabas are no longer available, would any of my Futaba 72 Mhtz receivers be safely usable with 14.8V LiPo powered systems? Thanks!

Not sure where you got the idea is no longer available.
Futaba is now doing all US sales and service through their Huntsville, AL location

As far as using lipos with older 72MHz systems that was not advised. And is 14.8 volts a typo?? Even with 2.4 a 2S lipo system (8.4 volts full charge) would be the max.

Bill M. Thanks for your reply but I am extremely confused now and wish clarification. You questioned my intended usage of a 14.8 volt LiPo battery in conjunction with a R617FS receiver. Have I then been in great error by using one of these receivers, for months, in my 2000mm Beaver which is powered by a 22 volt LiPo battery? I am really very concerned about this. I have taken photos of this setup showing both this RX and the 6cell battery. I've tried to attach it to this reply but have been unsuccessful in uploading it. Maybe it's been stored in my gallery...I don't know. But what I do know is that if I've been wrong using this receiver, WHAT RECEIVER SHOULD I BE USING FOR BATTERIES IN EXCESS OF 8 VOLTS?

Ah, I understand now. This is an electric powered plane, correct?? If so you are using the BEC off the ESC correct? If so then it does not matter what size main power battery you are using since the BEC circuitry in the ESC regulates the voltage down to an acceptable level for the RX. I originally thought you want to use a 14.8 volt battery connected directly to the RX.
And again, Futaba is fully in business with plenty of stock. But if you want to use your 72 MHz stuff that will work fine if you are using the BEC through the ESC.

As it turned out, I just returned from our airfield where I was "indoctrinated" into the clandestine world of BECs. As you might have gathered, I have not wandered too deeply into this 2.4 estoterica. I appreciate your reinforcement of my newly-learned lesson. Thanks too for the information about Futaba products availablility. I hope that the leisure products corporate giants sort out their sh*t and bring your products back to the hobby shops where they belong!
