Default 18sz instructor tx 14sg student tx

When I connect these two with the trainer cord the 14sg draws current down to 4 volts and shuts down. Before I can even set the radio up. Also I can’t get the 14 to recognize the throttle control. This an electric plane.

What is getting drawn down to 4 volts? The 14SG or the 18SZ?

The 14sg is drawn down. What is meant by resetting data to defaults when it concerns setting up for the buddy box?

Are you using the 14SG as the student TX? If so, you do not turn it on. It will get power from the 18SZ (Instructor) radio.

Yes as the student. I don’t turn it on. Maybe you could walk me through the setup? I’m using the mix function on the 18sz instructor tx.

I don't understand what is happening. You say the 14SG is being drawn down? It is not on, where are you seeing this voltage?

Tell me how you have things set up and what you are doing so I can hopefully see where you have gone astray.

The 14 just goes blank quits. I connect with the cord. It works for awhile. When it quits I try to power it up, it won’t. Do I need to set the throws and trims on the student tx or is it supposed to pick everything up from the instructors?

The student TX picks up the control inputs from the instructor TX. I want to confirm that you are not turning on the 14SG while it is connected to the 18SZ, correct? Also, is the 18SZ pack fully charged?

I seem to have everything working this morning. Except for one thing. It concerns the motor. On the 18sz (the instructor tx) I have the ld knob setup as a safety switch for the motor all the way left is off and right is on. When I activate the knob to the right I have control as normal with the 18 but when I hit the trainer sw the motor comes on. Any ideas?

What changed that it is now working?
As far as the throttle, make sure they are assigned to the same channel in both the 14SG and 18SZ.

I think on the 14 the trainer function was enabled. Both motor ch’s are set to 3.

The throttle stick j3 on the 14 is reversed all the way forward is off and all the way down is on. But no matter the position of the stick it won’t rev up or throttle down. Throttle is either off or on about a 1/3.
