I have a 9C which I use to fly V-tail gliders with the crow featured activated. I had to send it back to have a new chip installed. I am thinking of ordering another 9C to replace my 8U, are the new radios coming through with the new chip yet , or should I wait a while before I order another 9C.
Thanks

Jim,
All 9Cs ever shipped in the US have a minor software glitch which affects a very small portion of users....if you are using the glid2 software and if you are using butterfly/crow in combination with vtail gliders AND using elevator compensation, one elevator servo gets twice the needed travel. This can be fixed with a simple mix from the elevator to the rudder servo with link off.
A small qty of updated processors are available now to replace this chip for those users who don't have an available mix who use this combination. At some point in the future all production radios will have the updated processor. Any time a 9C ever comes in for service its processor will be checked and will be upgraded for free as a part of its regular service.

All radios received in the US after 6/30/02 have the updated processor. So we currently have mixed stock, as some frequencies have sold out and some have not. an easy way to know for sure -- the new batches also have a longer dial on them for VRs A, B, and C.

Hi Mike!
Easiest thing -- do you hvae knobs (vrs A B and C) that are more than 1/2" tall? If so you hvae the newer units.
Next, you can use the servo display screen to see how yours behaves. If you don't fly gliders, though, there's no need to worry....as it effects ONLY that one change.

Jeff,
At this time they are not available even to us as a service part, they are that new. I would expect them to be available in the future, ask me again in 2 months or so, ok?

AM, I'm very impressed with Futaba's commitment to address customer concerns and suggestions. The expediency and speed with which you are able to sort out the genuine concerns from the sea of frivolous complaints are equally impressive.
Just a couple of days ago, I was thumbing through the Mouser catalog looking for replacement knobs. Here you are beating me to it. I might still get the knobs I prefer anyway, particularly because I like to get ones that indexed (i.e. numbered). This may be a long shot, but you don't happen to know what size shaft these knob fit on, do you? 1/4", 1/8" or 6mm?

Sorry, Volfy, don't know off hand. If you need a measurement, though, just email my techs. [email protected]. (the auto system can't ansewr this one so stick "no autoresponder" in the body of your email to keep it from trying.)
PS: the new ones have a much better index of center, etc.
