Default crystal change

I just bought a Futaba 6XA (used) Tx, it is on channel 21.
I have an older Futaba 4 channel Tx and 7 channel Rx 127DF on channel 48.

I am going to retire my 4 channel Tx and use the Rx from it with the new 6XA Tx. Can I use the ch 48 Tx crystal in my 6XA Tx, or would it need re-tuned since it crossed from lo-band to hi-band?

Or do I have to buy a new channel 21 crystal for my Rx and keep the Tx on its original channel? Not my first choice, since the other method does not require me to buy a new crystal.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,
NEVER EVER change transmitter channel. that's a no-no.

Hi and low band refer to receiver only. You need to either:

a) have your 6X retuned, with new crystal to your high band channel; or
b) have your 127DF retuned to match the new transmitter's low band channel, with new crystal.

Thanks for the help AnnMarie !!

Just a few more questions. I think I understand it better now that I have read some of your earlier posts.

If I put a new channel 21 crystal, in my receiver (was 48) I should send it in to have it tuned, correct?

Does the age of the receiver matter, my receiver is an older one, in that I have had it for quite a while.

If I use another Futaba receiver that was on the lower channels, say less than 35, and put a new crystal in it, that is OK without having it sent in to be retuned, correct?

Thanks,

Tim

Hi, Tim! You have it 100% accurate. No, age doesn't matter.
