Default 9CAP Programming

I'm having a programming issue that I need help with. I have a PCM receiver in the GP Giant Big Stik with the flaps slaved to the ailerons. Each control surface is on a separate channel, with the flaps in channels 5&6, so PM1&2 are used to slave them to the ailerons (Ch1). I'm now trying to slave the ailerons to the rudder using PM5, however, only aileron (Ch 1) responds; flaps (Ch 5&6) and aileron (Ch 7) do not respond. Ail-Dif is turned on.

After an hour plus of programming using a different model, I found if PM5 was programmed first, followed by the rest of the PM's, than things work right. Am I missing something, or is there a sequence in which the PM's need to be done? My manual is at home, and I'm stranded in Florida for 5 more weeks.

Chuck

Hi chuck,

I am not Bill, but I am sure I can help you.

It won't matter what order you do these mixes in, but on your Pmix 5, if your 2nd servo is not following the Master of the previous mix (Pmix 1 or 2) then you would need to turn your Link function on in that Pmix.

Lets say you have a mix of two servos, and you want to create a second mix, with another channel as master and the first two servos following. To make the "slave" of the first mix follow in the second mix, turn Link On.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Krysta,

That is the way mine is setup and doesn't work.

Can you try programming two models as described below and let me know how it works on your 9CAP radio? I did reset the model to clear the memory first.

This one doesn't work:
1. Turn on the Ail-Dif
2. Under Aux-Ch set Ch 5-8 to null
3. PM1 - Aile-Flap, link on, trim on, null, 100%
4. PM2 - Aile-Gear, link on, trim on, null, 100%
5. PM5 - Rudd-aile, trim on, null, 10%

This one does work:
1. Turn on the Ail-Dif
2. Under Aux-Ch set Ch 5-8 to null
3. PM5 - Rudd-aile, trim on, null, 10%
4. PM1 - Aile-Flap, link on, trim on, null, 100%
5. PM2 - Aile-Gear, link on, trim on, null, 100%

Hi Chuck,

It sounds as though I may have misunderstood you. I should have given you a break down of what I set up. I turned on Ail Diff, then did mix 1 Ail-Gear, mix 2 Ail-Flap, mix 5 Rud-Ail and in mix 5, but here I turned LINK ON (this is what linked my second Aileron servo to my rudder). Then I went into Aux channel and made 5 Null, but I did not Null channel 8 in Aux Channel as I did not think you were using it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Either way this is done, it looks as though you achieved your desired mix. And I hope this works out well for you.

Thank you, Krysta

Krysta,

Thanks for the help, it's working now. My problem was a misunderstanding of the "link" option. It was turned on for the aileron to flap and gear mixes which wouldn't allow the link function to appear with the rudder to aileron mix.

taggem,

This is how I would set up the receiver. Then you need to turn on the Ail-Diff for the right aileron to follow the left aileron. Then using a program mix, use aileron as the master and flap (ch 6) as the slave. Be sure to set your rates, start with 100%.

Chuck

Channel
1 Aileron - Left
2 Elevator- Left
3 Throttle
4 Rudder
5
6 Elevator- Right
7 Aileron - Right
8

In the text you say flap is ch 6, but down toward the bottom right aileron is in ch 7. Is this correct? I got the ailerons working this way, but need to be reversed, no problem. Thanks

taggem,

Ch 7 which is called Aux and Ch 6 is called Flap, in Futaba nomencature. However you are using Ch 6 to drive an elevator half not a flap.
I hope this helps.
