Default 14MZ Flapperon Function

Do you anticipate adding a programming "button" for a flapperon function like we use to have on the 9Z? I realize there are work-arounds, but it would sure be nice if it had a button to quickly program flapperons. (I called John a few weeks ago at the tech support line and he walked me through it. However, if I had to do it again, it would take me a long while and a lot of experimenting.) The few guys I know that have the 14MZ all say the ommission of the "FPN" programming button is the only programming capability that was better in the 9Z.

Thanks

P.S. Everytime I have called John at the tech support center he has been incredibly helpful and very, very patient. He is truely outstanding!!!

Flaperons are already in the 14MZ. They are called 'camber', and are adjusted by the camber mix in the Model menu. When you have an airplane selected, you can go into the virtual channels in the AFR menu and see one marked as "camber". Set its control in the function menu to the one you want, adjust the camber mix, and you're ready to go. It's on page 89 of the manual.

I set camber on my 14mz so I could have flaperons but I am unable to make the flaps proportional, the ailerons move to a preset flap position even when using the slider controls just like it does using a switch. I was able to have proportional flaperons using my 9z but no luck with the 14mz.

Hi huey-pilot.,

To make mine work with Flaps on a slider, I went into Airbrake, made it active, set it to Single, set the Switch to my LST, went to the second page and set the Tuning to +100% on both Ailerons with nothing set to the Elevator.

This allows me Aileron control with the slider in the center position, and up and down proportional flaps on the Slider.

I didn't have to do anything in Camber this way. It should work as long as you pick a Two Aileron wing type and make sure that your ailerons are functioning in the correct manner by reversing one if need be.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Sincerely,

I have set my 14MZ just as you described but the flaps still act as though they are on a switch while using the LST, going to the full down as soon as I pass a certain spot on LST. I have been able to move this spot but no proportional flaps on my gas planes. I used butterfly on one of my gliders and I eventually was able to make the flaps proportional but I had them on J3.
