Synthesized transmitter module
Hi,
I haven't purchased a radio for some time and am confused with regard to the following.
I'm looking at the 9cafs radio but what is the synthesized transmitter module and do I need it as well?
Thank You,
Bill

RE: Synthesized transmitter module
A synthesized transmitter module is a module that doesn't use a crystal. Instead, special circuitry makes the output frequency...or "synthesizes" it. This means that you can easily change the transmitter frequency at the turn of a dial. It also means that the user is able to change the transmitter frequency because the entire module, with its channel-changing dials, is approved by the FCC for that kind of operation. The user cannot legally change the frequency of a regular, fixed-frequency module. That requires you to change the crystal and retune the unit. Unless you have the proper training and equipment, you cannot perform a frequency change on a crystal-controlled frequency module.
