Default 8UAF Mixes for Sport Plane 4-Servo Wing

Futaba,

Thanks for your help with this.

My radio system is an 8UAF with an R-148DF Rx. I want to lower the flaps using the retract (GEA) switch E - without using a Y-cable.

I have a sport plane with the following wing setup:

Ch1 = Left Aileron, Ch7 = Left Flap, Ch8 = Right Flap, Ch6 = Right Aileron

One of the mixer setups I tried was:

PMIX-1 Ch7 > Ch8, 100%
PMIX-2 GEA > Ch7, 100%, Link ON
FLPRON to merge the two aileron servos on channels 1 and 6
PMIX-3, 4, and 5 - I used three more PMIXs to deactivate knobs 6, 7, and 8.

The problem is that the flap servos do not travel the full range of motion; they move about half of what they are supposed to.

I also tried to mix OFS to Ch 7 with similar results.

Please advise is there is anything else to try with this.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

You may want to try doing the Flaperon, then doing one Pmix with Offset as Master, Channel 7 as slave, at 100% on your gear switch, then do the second on the same but with Channel 8 as the slave. Do a third mix from Gear to Gear at Negative 100% to cancel out the channel 5 servo movement, and then your other mixes to cancel out the dials.

This might work better for you.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Thanks Krysta,

I will try that later. Since channel 5 is unused (I was to plug the receiver battery in there), do I need to use up a mixer to cancel the Ch5 movement?

In the meantime, can I use a slight variant:

OFS > Ch7 50% on Switch C (center)

OFS > Ch8 100% on Switch C (down)

to get 1/2 and full deflection?

Thanks again,

Paul

Krysta,

I tried exactly as you instructed, and the flaps servos in channels 7 and 8 still provide about 1/2 of the expected movement - the servos in the other channels have more throw.

Is there something about the offset capability that limits the overall throw?

I duplicated the arrangement using the center and down position on switch C successfully, but had the same symptom - less than full throw on channels 7 and 8.

Please advise. Thanks,

Paul

I am advised by Futaba telephone support that you only get travel from the middle point to one endpoint when using an offset mixer - that explains the 1/2 throw on my flaps.

It is possible that the only way to get full throw is to use a dial.
