According to the range test procedure ...one has the antenna down all the way to condut it......yet Futaba also mentions that while programming the radio or fidling with it, to have atleast one extension out to prevent damaging the radio........the two seem to contradict each other...........?

Usually, range tests are of short-enough duration that no damage will occur.
