Default Futaba 9CA Programming

I am programming my 9ca radio per the manual. I noticed that the Full Length airlerons setup says to plug Ail's in 1 & 6 and Flaps in Aux 7 & 8. leaving channel 5 blank. I only have 8 channels, with 8 being battery, which leaves me with 7 channels available. Do I use channel 5 as channel 8.
Also, a club member told me I had to set up my Type as a GLID, not ACRO to get full length Ailerons and also use flaps. The airplane I am setting up is a Hanger 9 UStick120.
Please do not refer me to the Futaba FAQ , because I already have that I need more help than it offers.
Please include your suggestions on Mix , Channel assignments ETC.
Thanks,
Richard

If you install a "Y" harness on channel 8, you'll be able to use the 8th channel for a servo and the battery pack. That's how the 8-channel receiver is supposed to be used. You should then be able to get the suggested programming to work.

What particular difficulties are you having that are not mentioned in the FAQ?

Richard,

Before you buy a Y harness, plug the battery pack into channel 5.
