Default Help with 12FG and SD card

Trying to update my new 12Fg and I have 2 different SD 1GB cars. One is a Kodak high speed (brand new) and the other is a generic that had photos on it but they are all erased. I'm trying to format one of them so that I can update the radio. I put the card in the back of the radio and power it on and nothing comes up about formating. I go to the system menu and click on information and it says there is no memory card. Is it a problem with the SD cards I have?? How do I know what card will work in the radio?

Thanks

There's no way to tell if a given SD card will work. You can only try a few. There are differences that can make it hard for the transmitter to recognize them. A too-large card can also be a problem. 1 Gig is about the practical max. Sandisk seems to work out OK.

If I have models in the "internal" memory, is there a way to copy them to the SD card so I can back them up on my pc?

There is a "copy" function.  Just go into the Linkage Menu and choose the "Model Select" section.  Highlight the desired model, cursor to "copy", and press the dial.  It will then show a copy from and copy to.  Just change the "copy to" to show the memory card.

Perhaps I'm missing something.  I follow you all the way to "cursor to Copy"  - I don't see Copy!  I see Select and Delete.  I checked and I'm on V 1.6 on a 12FGA...purchased last Christmas.

In the Linkage Menu, there is an option called "Model Select".  You go into that.  Rotate the dial to select the desired model.  Press the dial.  You will get "Select" and "Delete".  Select the model.  Once you've changed to that model, the transmitter will take you back to the beginning.  Just continue on and go back into the Linkage Menu, then the "Model Select" function.  The current model is already selected, so just press the dial.  Now you will have "Rename" and "Copy" as your options.  If you have a card installed, you can select the origin and the destination.
