Default 8FG SD card use

I have installed and formatted an SD card but the manual offers no explanation of what purpose this serves or how to use it. It advises the use of http://futaba-rc.com/sellsheets/downloads.html but this page seems unavailable. I assume the card should allow me to store model data and download software updates but I would welcome some guidance on its use. Thanks.

Use of an SD card will expand the number of models you can create and store. It will also allow you to download software updates whenever Futaba may make them available. To date, there hasn't been an update to the original software.

Here's where you'd check for new software updates:

I have placed an SD card in my transmitter. It formatted the card. I went online for the update. I downloaded the update and tried to install it into my SD Card. Numerous attempts to load resulted in the promt that the card was full. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bad SD disk or what? When I check the SD disk, it says it is empty, but when I attempt to download it says not enough memory.

Anyone have any suggestions and/or has anyone out there had this problem? Would like to hear from you.

You need to download the file system utility software: http://www.futaba-rc.com/downloads.html

Use it to install the software onto the SD card.

I updated my 8FG this past weekend and it went well. I do have a question though. If I save my current models on the same card, does the system reload the upgrades everytime I reload a saved model? This is the first time I've ever used the internet/computer to work with a Tx.

Your transmitter will upgrade the software only when you have the upgrade switch moved and then the transmitter turned on. Just adding or rearranging models does nothing to the software. The software on the card is only used when you specifically select the software upgrade process.
