Default HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

Alright guys, hopefully someone here can help me. DL50, electronic ignition. Runnin like a champ. Refuel and go to start the plane, nothing. I have checked the plug, good. The battery, good. All connections, good. The only thing weird to me is that while rotating the engine i have no spark. But when the ignition switch is cycled on and off, each time the switch is placed in the on position the plug will spark one time. The only thing I can figure left is the ignition itself right? I just hate to buy an $80 dollar ignition and it not be the problem. Anyone have any good news for me? Thanks for your help.

If you don't get a spark when you rotate the engine, it sounds like the pick up coil mounted on the crankcase or its lead and connector. Maybe, even the magnet. Dan.

I would think it is good news your ignition still does spark. There is a way to test the pick-up. Jody at Valley View can tell you...I think. If you have a friend that has the same ignition....maybe he will let you try a pick-up sensor know to be good. Capt,n

Unplug the ignition from the sensor, make sure you have a good battery hooked up to the ignition.

Now take a small wire and touch the two outside wires on the connecter that go to the sensor, You should get a spark each time you touch it and then take it off. If not your ignition is bad.

Try bypassing the switch and plug the battery into the ignition, that will tell you if the switch is the problem. From there start checking your ignition.

Sounds like a dead hall sensor. The triggered once when switched on was the indicator.

The sensor needs to be replaced like Tired Old Man said.

Mine did this when the cap came of the spark plug and it started sparking in the sensor and ruined it.

You're welcome. sensors are cheap and quite easy to replace. Simply note/mark the position of the old one before removal. Mark the distance it hangs over the hub as well.
