Default dm 55 engine

I just ordered a dm 55 engine. My last gasser was in 1983 A Quadra 35cc. so I know little about the engines out there except that DA DLE are supposed to be good. I was hopeing the dm is just a later version of the dl. If anyone has heard of the DM 55 let me know if I did ok or I bit the bullet[] Thanks Jim

DM? Ya mean we have another one? Just how many engines can they name starting with a D anyway? We have 26 letters in our alphabet and you would think they could get a little more creative than just using D to start with.

I didn't request this engine to be sent to me, it just showed up with a request for evaluation in hopes I would want to distribute them. It didn't pass the visual/tear down inspection, I took a couple measurements then stopped wasting my time without running it. I'm fairly certain it will run similar to the rest of the DLE wannabe engines out there - pretty good, not quite as powerful, with unknown longevity because they (most mfgrs. of DL wannabes) don't do their own endurance testing, they want the customer to do it. So it resides in the corner of my shop with the 8 or 10 others with D-something or other cast or stamped into them that arrived the same way, there is no domestic distribution or support that I'm aware of.

I'm sorry if I sound critical of it but that's what my job is and what was requested of me when it arrived. For my money, right now there is only a couple of Chinese manufacturers that I trust dealing with, their current products are unique in design, powerful, affordable, reliable, well proven, and they have a prominent distribution and support network in the same country I live in.
