DA vs DLE info needed

I have only flown DA, and with a certain goal of mine of owning 3 150 aerowrks models saving 1800 dollars on engines is very nice.
I was looking to go with 170cc and just wondering how they compare? seen people having problems with some. I just want the best I can get but if there is not much diff it might be something to consider.

Haven't seen anyone having problems with a DLE170. People have been loving them, only complaint has been the lack of availability of headers but that is beginning to change.

Both are good engines. The DA 170 turns more RPM than the DA 150 but doesn't really come into it's own until it's equipped with pipes. The DLE seems to make better power without pipes than a DA does.
Those having problems with either type are the same people that would have a problem with any engine. Meaning both engines are pretty fool proof but some people fail to follow simple directions or fail to tune their engines.

The best line I've ever read (over at FG) between these two goes like this:
DLE is for the masses;
DA is for the classes.
Sums up everything between these two brands in a nice little poem.
Personally I'd go for the DLE-170. DA 170 is also another option. Most use tuned pipes on the 150 to match, but wow that's $$$ in the end for nearly the same thing! If you have money to burn, put pipes on the DLE-170 instead!

I'm a DA kindda guy. With that being said, DLE seems to be on track with a good product. Just about all the 55's and 111's that I have seen run flawlessly. Haven't seen a 170 yet, but I've heard nothing but good things. I may end up with a DLE one of these days...

Bye the way, thanks for all your input on various forums and helping out those few guys who do have issues even if the engines didn't come from you. You're an asset to our hobby....

Thanks for the kind words Zeeb, I go back far enough to know what it's like to have to teach yourself everything about this hobby. It could get frustrating and a little expensive to say the least.
