Remove the cylinder and take it to a machine shop, have them install something called a timesert, better than a helicoil for this app IMO.

Bet it will cost a lot more than $20.00 at a machine shop. I haven't seen one in awhile with less than a $70.00/hour shop rate.

I didn't catch that, for just $20 I would go that route also, there is Clarence Lee also if he repairs gas engines?

Dumb thumbs me stripped the spark plug hole threads in my engine, and I sent the cylinder to Jody at Valley View who repaired the damage with a heli coil insert.

I took my DLE 55 head to a local Yamaha motorcycle shop and they installed a helicoil for $20. You might check local cycle shops first and save shipping costs and time.

That's a very good suggestion, as here in Jamaica I could find no one who offered a 10mm helicoil repair, and it was more costly to locally buy a helicoil kit than to send the head to Jody.

It's 10mm x 1.0, Heli-Coil kits can be purchased from McMaster-Carr or any fastener wholesaler/retailer. They're a bit spendy for a one time use, I install them for $20 plus return shipping.

Jodi,
Thanks for the info I found the wright size repair kit at my local Grangers.
The weather is really nice for flying here now not so hot, it was worth a liitle extra bucks.
The fix is on my MT 70 do you have any MT 35 jugs just in case?
When I got this engine it need it to have the spark plug threads chased but I was in a hurry and slowly worked the plugs in[]
Also what lenth coil do use the kit I got only has 15mm incerts in it.
Thanks MB
