Magneto Ignition Ground
Hey All,
This is my first gas engine, and I have not ever started one. I have a Fuji BT244 magneto ignition engine with a dynamic timing module. I need to attach the ground wire to the block. The only screws available besides the mount are behing the fly wheel. I am wondering if I can mount the wire to the bar that goes from the fly wheel to pick up the magnetic pulse. It is also mounted to the block. Iam worried about putting it there since it is part of the ignition module. Does anybody know if it is safe won't ruin anything.
Here is a link to another Fuji Imvac motor. You can see the automatic timing module and the bar mounted to the engine.

Thanks,
Brian

RE: Magneto Ignition Ground
Whoever wrote that manual doesn't know what he's talking about..There are no ball bearings on the rod, there's 2 roller bearings...
A stock magneto B64 needs no ground wire on the magneto...A ground wire is required to kill the engine when connected to a switch..

RE: Magneto Ignition Ground
When I said that I am attaching a ground wire, I meant one to kill the engine from a switch. The picture of the BT64 is just for reference. I have a BT24.
With one wire attached to the ingnition module, can I attach the second wire on a screw that attaches the module without harming anything?

ORIGINAL: Antique
Yes, any screw that contacts metal on the engine will work....

If my backup pilot is available, Iam finishing up the last of the work on my 84" Spitfire and heading to the field tomorrow. It is my first large plane and as I said in the first post my first gas engine. Though Ihave the skill, I am letting a better pilot fly the maiden.

RE: Magneto Ignition Ground
It is about 14 lbs. with a semi-symmetrical wing that is flat on the bottom from the CG back. It is made by American Eagle. It is really a fixed gear sport plane that happens to look like a Spitfire. It should be a floater.
