Default SPE 40 Rear housing

I can't find the rear crank case half for the SPE 40cc gas engine anywhere. Part# SPE403012 Rear crankcase. Would anyone have a spare or a parts engine laying around at your house? It's the rear housing with the mounting ears for the standoff.

Is this what you are looking for? The piston for it seems to be about 33.5mm.

Rich, let me measure the opening for the bearings, maybe that will indicate whether it is for the 26 or 40cc model. I'll try to get back to you tonight after I measure it. Can you measure the mounting ears (standoff) width and height? That might be different for the 26 & 40cc as well and give us a clue as to which you have. Does your rear case have an opening for the shaft to stick out, like the front housing (prop side)? The newer 43cc model does not have the rear shaft sticking out and the housing is closed off.

Thanks, DG

Skip, thanks! the 43cc housing is different, no opening in the rear for the shaft to stick out. I just emailed Cermark to see if they have any. Thanks for the tip! DG

You can cut your crank end off flush with bearing inside if the rest is the same, eliminating the seal, reduce,s drag and chance of air leak.

Rich, thanks for checking your engine parts for me. If the hole spacing for the mount is 2"x 2-1/8" you have the 26cc. If the spacing is 2-1/2"x 3" it is the 40cc. The newer 43cc and I believe the 26cc both have the rear crankcase half closed off as there is not a shaft out the rear. Thanks for your time, Dale

Have you had a look at the MLD engine spares? NOT saying it will work, but seeing as they were very similar and supposedly came out of the same factory it might be an option?

Thanks

I googled MLD and could not find any reference to them ever making a 40cc gasser. My search continues, anyone? I guess I should have waited 5 yrs. for the DLE30 to come out, it probably produces nearly the same power as my old 40cc SPE.

If the 43 c/case is same accept for hole, all you have to do is cut crank, you can cut it with a hacksaw.

Thanks for the idea, Skip1320 Anyone know if the SPE 43cc case is the same dimension/design as the 40cc with the rear case hole blocked off? Hate to buy one, and find it doesn't work. The websites I've seen says it doesn't work with the 40cc, but if it's only the rear hole being removed, cutting the shaft would be a last attempt option to salvage a good running motor.

I have a SPE 40cc and needed a new rear crank case. I called Cermark, told them what I needed and in lass than a week I had a new one shipped to me. This was back in June. I was told that I got the last one in stock, but they may have some more by now. Give them a call. Hope this helps.

Thanks e-Fly, he found one for me and I'm in the process of getting it shipped to me from overseas. Rcnats: I tried all of the USA suppliers of SPE and they were all out of stock, in fact it's hard to find an SPE in the USA now (either they quit manufacturing them, or they fell out of favor) which surprises me as they had quite a good following. This is one of the issues with all of the gas engines being manufactured overseas (parts supply, and discontinuing models due to updates). DA and Zenoah seem to carry parts for a long time on older engine models.
