The post says RESISTOR plug TWICE in the text...I am not talking about a non resistor plug..Stock Zenoah ignition system...Any Zenoah....G26, 45, 62 , and GT80 all use the SAME spark coil and mag rotor with source coil...All mounted on the engine...All use a Champion resistor plug...Zenoah coils have a solid copper center wire.. My 1972 ProLine Custom Comp FM radio will work just fine with any Zenoah or Quadra/US 41 with NO shield on any airplane I put it on...Since 1982.....
FWIW, the old Proline was and probably still is one of the strongest in terms of output power....

Since he wants the smallest how about just going with the 1/4" plug?

Obviously I managed to miss the part about a resistor plug, twice. If that's the case strap the thing up and go.

I just went and checked my G38. I replaced the sparkplug wire with Packard 440 carbon resistance wire ( non copper) and it has a RCJ8 Champian plug. It will hand start good andhas a fly-wheel mag on it. Capt,n

NOT A REPLY...A IDEA

I wonder id a person took a standard Rcexl ignition and used s resister wire for the hi tension lead and a rubber cap, would this work? I know you would need a seperate ground wire (real short) to the aluminum case on ignition box. Seems like a fun experiment!!! Range test....then maybe test fly on a junker! Capt,n P.S. I bet Bill Carpenter would know!

These are the smallest caps I've seen, no bigger than the plug, D&B ignition. Must use resisitor wire, I was worried but mine works fine without any interference issues.

Might not work wiith a CM6 spark plug....That ignition is a Reichmuth made by D&B engines....
All my Zenoah conversions use the Zenoah spark coil, RC of C&H ignition circuit, solid center, with a rubber cap and resistor plug...They work just fine..Since 1987....
And Bill DOES know...You don't know how much he no longer cares

Ralph do you know of anyone that makes a cap like ZDZ that will fit on the cut down plugs that I could put onto a Rcexl or CH ignition (if I could still get my hands on one).

Check with Tom at BME, he sold the falkon ignitions for a while and might still have some...
I sent 4 back to a customer last week, changed hiis EVO flat four to EXL..He might not have a use for the old ignition, I can see if he wants to part with his.....

So it is possible to put the caps onto another ignition then? Cool as I am not happy how my 80 twin runs on the Falcon ignition. It runs like a dream with the Rcexl ignition but it requires the larger plug caps. I didn't want to destroy my current ignition to see how the caps are attached as they looked to me as if the wire was potted into the cap with a black epoxy.

I do no but I do not care, just add a 1k 1 watt resistor at the spark plug cap.Would probably be OK with pCM or 2.4.or Ralphs Pro Line.
Flew Sun the first time with one batt for ignition and radio.Seems to be fine but against my better judgement.Using LIFE batt. I did install two Diodes in jumper to Ign from LIFE batt.

A guy carried a Walt Good TTPW ground base transmitter into my shop the other day and gave it to me. Wish he would have had a receiver. He said he would look. Now them were the days.
They said that TTPW ment To Tough To Piddle With. LOL
