I bought a used DA100 a little bit ago with an RC Exl ignition and it starts and runs great.
Someone is telling me that the ignition is not a direct replacement for the DA and the engine
needs to be modified to use RC Exl.
I had a buyer for the engine but he backed out because he said the ignition is not a direct replacement,
and the engine needs to be modified??
Any thoughts on that?
I have RC Exl ignitions on three 30cc engines and they perform great too.
I especially like the ignition timing kit and ignition tester offered by the company.
It takes a lot of the guess work out of timing and ignition testing.
Thanks and Happy Holidays

I have installed RCexl on quite a few DA engines and never had a complaint, Customer love the way the engines run and the lower cost of replacing the ignitions.
No they are not a direct replacement, You have to drill and tap one new hole to time and mount the ignition sensor.
Also have installed them on ZDZ, 3W, Fuji and Zenoah engines.
Sometimes the RCexl is 1/4 the cost of a original manufacture replacement.
I have not bought one but heard that 3W is now getting $250.00 for a twin replacement

There is nothing special about ANY ignition that would make it cost OVER what basdazzmax or wrongway charge...They mostly all come from the same Chinese manufacturer, and were cloned from the best model airplane ignition on the planet...
DA and 3W charge what they do because there is some perception that their ignitions are somehow better...NOT SO....
Some of the European ignitions have extra features not needed, like shutting off after a length of time...
Anything over 100% profit is just greed, plain and simple...

FWIW, my good friend and ex competitor Bill Carpenter is grumpy # 2....And you will never know how little he no longer cares

Just for a added note to 3W users.
If you have the multi colored wires on your ignition there is no drilling and taping holes. just mount the new sensor that comes with the ignition and time the engine.
You are ready to go.

And the newer RC EXL ignitions come with a much longer sensor mount, no need to drill at tap, the slots are at least twice as wide...Just use the correct South pole facing outward magnet to trigger the sensor...
